2.30am start time out of bridgewater deliver to 4 office depots and come back empty. no touch

stops 2-4 all within 10 miles hardtford ct.
530 mile run monday thru friday 41cents per mile 10 dollars a stop benes weekends off 20 minute commute from home
manager claims guy doing it now is usally back at 230pm so thats 12 hour day
hiring pricess has been long so far with background checks

gig 2 hr ewell out of morrisville pa/ trenton nj area yard
decent looking mack sleeper delivering dedicated food bulk same stop everyday. ive seen hr ewells trucks going decent speed like 68mph plus
monday-friday weekends off benes 20 min commute from house
5am start deliver load to maspeth ny (queens) for 8am unload go back to morrisville pa grab 2nd ttrailer and go back to maspeth for 4pm unload.
prolly get back to yard empty around 630-7

run is around 310 miles for the day
hiring process has been weird. first they had no jobs aval. then next day "something happened with a driver and a spot is open"

Take the other job. The other job always works out to be better then the one you took.

I like the "salaried" job. Yeah, gotta run into Queens, but it's guaranteed money. And let's be honest, I have never driven even close to the speed limit in NYC, so it doesn't matter what you are governed at.

If the weather is crappy, job one may go to #### quickly. Job two will still pay you. Less driving, yeah, NYC, but heck, no matter what you know what you make. No need to drive like a maniac.

    Good luck either way.

i'd take the cardinal job if you don't have to tailgate any of the stores. i used to do 2 rounds to duane reade in maspeth and good luck if you think that you're going to be back in the yard by 7 with a 4 unload.

My only concern with the Cardinal job would be that's a bunch of miles, not a ton, but still 530 miles in the northeast, and the possibility of heavy winter weather could make for much longer than a 12 hour day. I'm not originally from PA, but I have spent the last year up here and started with a company running a 250 mile radius of the 'burgh, my miles averaged between 450-550 and rarely was I able to complete that in under or at 12 working hours. You have to decide what works best for you though.

assuming you mean "pitts-burg".thats another animal alltogether.i spent 5yrs on the 95 corridor in the n.e. hardly ever do they get winters like the burg.thats heavy duty sh=t over there.and they are more prepared for the bad sh-t when it comes than most places in pa.weather isnt as bad as the a-holes on the road you deal with in ct.

I'm from Pittsburgh originally but been in Florida since 1983. If you know the area driving isn't all that bad unless you're talking mostly city-driving as in downtown. Like Gator21 says, that's another animal altogether. I was raised in that town and many of the roads STILL don't make sense to me. If you can avoid the main drags in and out of town, the parkway and a few others or at least hit them on off-hours, it's not that bad once you know them but I still avoid the rush hours whenever I'm back there to visit. But compared to the blue and white hairs driving on the roads here, in the hammer lane with their turn signal blinking all the time and riding their brake while pressing on the accelerator and looking through the steering wheel to see, I feel safer there.

Pittsburgh winters ain't a hill o' beans! Man alive, they close the schools after only 2-3 inches of snow down there! I park myself here in NW PA, and we don't close the schools unless the wooly mammoths come out! We don't consider it a real winter storm unless there's an actual glacier moving down Main Street! Anybody who thinks Pittsburgh winters are bad just classified themselves as certified Southerners!

yea it is a tuff descion. I told the hr ewell guy my main concern was that 2nd unload time at 4pm. lets say then i get back to home terminal with all the traffic in ny then in jersey on turnpike rt 1 I got back at 8 that wouldnt even be legal but he said its a 14 hour day. if the unload was at 2.30 it wouldnt be as bad. but 230.00 divided by 70 hours is is like 16.40 an hour. ehhh.
the cardinal job is pretty much salary since It would be the same 4 stops/ same run everyday which comes out to bout 260. so a lil more money but one hell of a hike everyday. im guessn tho if i start at 2.30 am ill beat most of the horse #### thru ny/ct. the appointment in rhode island is 8am. i have no issue getting up for 230 and getting done around 230pm would be nice because it would feel like u have some kinda of afterwork time. the hiring process with cardinal has taken over 2 weeks now. theyre picky on that employment history.
