Yep you have to dust yourself off and get back on the horse. The odds of a third wreck are astronomical. Perhaps you are not the best driver and can use some personal lessons from your husband. Many normal drivers don't know but there is a level of driving far above the rest of the population that only experienced truck drivers know. Truck drivers are taught or learn the hard way how to read traffic better and be more observant because of the huge slug they drive around in. They learn to have outs and how to avoid bad situations. If I was you I would start riding with your husband and have him teach you what he knows. When the light bulb comes on you will feel safer.

My mother when she got older had a fear of road trips but she would ride with only me driving. When she felt uncomfortable she would lay down in the back seat. :)

You know, I can totally 'buy' that as my husband always seems to have this crazy sixth sense about his surroundings. It's almost eerie...he just 'knows'. He says it's his military training and it probably is, but I have noticed it over the years and though I find it comforting when we're out in public, I often wonder..."What the heck dude??" LOL Anywhooooo....very good point you bring up there, as my real worry is more about *him* being on the road as a truck driver. My fears will subside over time, the objective of my post was to get feedback from drivers and how you keep yourselves safe in a very unsafe profession. ;-)

i was at a stoplight waitin to make a left turn (this was in michigan about 2002 in the winter i was in my 4 wheeler) i was fully in my lane not out in the intersection etc. i was headed east. a straight truck was headed west coming thru the light i was waiting to turn at. a semi (yes i am a truck driver almost 22 yrs now) was coming south and was going to turn and be headed west. well he decided to pull out in front of the straight truck...the straight truck decided to try and squeeze between the semi and me...he didnt make it....he hit me at my mirror and went all the way back down the length of my vehicle...i had a girlfriend with me, thank goodness we werent hurt, but it didnt scare me..I WAS MAD....i got out and ran down the road writing down the plate number of the trailer of the semi....and continued running til i got to the front of his truck (he was starting to pull over, he had been hit too)...i was writing down all his info incase he tried to leave...i then proceeded to tell him off and told him there was NO excuse for what he did etc. he said i knew nothing about driving a truck etc, etc....i said, "oh really?"....then told him i was a driver we had a very heated discussion til the cops got there and they made me go back to my vehicle...he tried to get out of it (the semi driver, saying making excuses)...the poor straight truck driver was beside himself....i told the cops it was not in any way his fault..the semi had pulled out in front of him...my NEW (had it 3 months) explorer was in the shop over a week getting the damage repaired....point is, we all react diff. if you are that traumatized, maybe you should seek help. its nothing to be ashamed of. thats why help is there...

Those accidents are really going to hinder your driving career. Going to be at least three years after they happened before most companies will consider you. I would advise you call around to some different companies and see what they have to say before you sign on the dotted line at a trucking school. They will be more than happy to take your money and then tell you that finding a job will be tough with your current driving record.
