take a good look at Indian River Transport, they ask you spend 21 days out, but have so little respect or consideration for drivers that they are calling you to go out less than 24 hrs after your home, this after being out 9 weeks. And this is not a one time event it is the norm. And I thought home time was a big deal in this industry's attemp to reduce turnover. What a joke, the harder to you work the less respect or consideration you get. And this is not just from one driver, I hear it everytime more than one or two get to geather.

unfortunately it is the norm it seems and when i driver does complain of home time even after being out for 3-4 weeks then the dispatcher wants to label them "unmotivated" or "unwilling to work hard".
I understand the need to stay out to make the big $$ but all drivers need some quality time out of the truck too--just working or sleeping and being inside the truck almost 24/7 gets to be too much of a grind but a dispatcher that works 8 to 5 then home to sleep does not understand that at all.

I had my dispatcher call me a midnight once and wanted we to drive to the yard--90 miles--then haul a load 500 miles that needed to be there by 11am--I just told him that I had drank 2 beers a couple of hours ago and that got him off the phone.

This is why you do your year over the road and then do local/regional work so your home every night. OTR stuff is for the birds or unless you can make it pretty well doing OTR and be home every weekend or every other week.

Because most don't realize how hard it is to be away from home and family until they try it for the first time. Most don't even realize how set they are in their routines until its changed. As most dont take extended trips its a great deal to handle and this occurs regardless of the company.

    avi Thanks this.
