You wanted to know more about Transport America, well my Dad drove for them for 13 1/2 years and now my best friend drives for them. They are very good to their drivers and the families. There have been a few minor problems, but nothing that a phone call didn't fix. They do keep you moving with loads to. My best friend is on the 14/7 program at TA and in the past 2 weeks, he has dropped 12 loads, and relayed 1 load. Just keep in mind when choosing a company, look for one that not only cares about it's drivers but also about the drivers family. TA was wonderful with us when my Dad had his accident. Don't know what else I can say other than they are an awsome company.

Read the whole post great info and insight! I going to set up orientation this week hopefully for monday!
Can someone tell me types of trucks...are these 10 speeds really don't want to drive a autoshift........do they have condo's or mid roof.....i think i read Freightshakers -
been here for 10 years ohhh they have made me mad i have said i was going to quit at least 5 times a year ok maybe a little more. over all there not a bad co. never worked for anyother co. before just TA. every time i have went looking there is nothing better out there maybe union.
TA wont fire you if you wont drive threw a snow storm but union will. i stayed put.
I worked at the school in scottsburg for about 3 years and trained over the road for them also. been training for 9 out of the 10 years i have been here
my dispatcher is great he gets me home every two weeks some times in the middle of all that too. if i want to stay home a day longer thats ok too. i am spoled rotten lol. i dont think i could work any place other than TA
over all good place to work things have changed since the 1st day some for the better other for the worst. i wont put roses on a pile of poo... if its poo... i will just flat out tell ya. my names brenda you can find me if you need to ask call i wont lie to you.
if you cant drive a truck you wont make it out of scottsburg. none of us are perfect they dont expect that but you have to be able to make the truck go. i will teach you the rest out here on the road. -
they are freghtshakers with 10speeds. its posabul to be able to get eather a mid roof or a condo. try for a condo though. after 6 mounth you will be able to have a pasager with you in the truck.

sent in app with transport america early this morning faxed release around noon got call at 2pm from recruiter brandon, asked me if i had my cdl or needed training told him needed training he said ok and I asked him when i would hear something, he told me that my prehire letter would go out today and i would get it monday or tuesday of next week. Is there a contract length that you tied to with TA if you use their school? what is the penalty for leaving early?
melanie Thanks this. -
im sure there is some kind of contract most of the time it will be atless a year. but if it can save you some money go for it other wise your looking atless 3500$ out of pocket. and you would be looking at maybe a year with transport whitch would still be good anyways. i went to trainco truck driving school here in toledo oh. but i was able to get the state to pay for my schooling because i was unemployed. check with the state your in you might be able to get assistance through them.

was reading another thread on-site here and something hit me.... not sure if I mentioned it before.
when you start solo for transport america they give you $100.00 to cover company expenses.
on the other thread about another company a guy was whining about paying scales and tolls and it taking 3 weeks to get his money back.
well that would tick you off eh???
anyways transport gives you a hundred dollars of company money for your pocket to cover these expenses and as you spend it you transflo the receipt along with your shipping papers or logs and it gets put back onto a comcard so you can withdraw it again.
its the company petty cash that you carry with you...
and... I miss this part of transport america myself. my new company makes me pay out of my pocket and get reimbursed. they're usually really quick about it but still... grrrrr....
plus one time they took a week... which wouldn't be bad but it was thanksgiving weekend and I spent the turkey money on repairing their truck... lol
d'oh...
anyways... good trails to ya'll... -
Ok, do you have to wear a uniform?
Do they give you a hard time for idling when it's really cold out?
What are the trucks governed at?
I got a conditional hire for them, I start orientation Jan 7. -
So have you been running team? That'd piss me off. If I run team during my training my trainer better buy me my meals.
