I thought they would change the mount to the one every other company uses, you know the one that intrusively shines the light twords your face at night so other drivers can see it while passing, seems the GPS plan might be as thought out as the plan developed by the guy who said "hey we have a great safety record, low turnover, and a good reputation. Lets take on students and see how fast we can screw this good thing up by flooding the fleet with newbies at 30 CPM, it shouldn't hurt our safety record, on time delivery, and I'm sure no experienced guys will leave. Look at Werner, Schneider, and Swift, they make huge profits"

It would be interresting to see a hard fact on the percent of students causing the issues countyboy speaks of. My trainer and I discussed this issue on the phone tonight and he seems to think its "experienced" drivers that we are bringing on from other companies that are affecting those numbers the greatest. I'm just saying......not all of us students are bad. I've been on my own for a few weeks now and I'm early for every appt. I practice docking at least 2 hours a week. (More when I've spent time at terminals) I get out and look etc etc etc. To go a step further, I've actually been laughed at by 2 "long-time" employees because before I roll I ACTUALLY DO a PTI. I know I have a TON to learn and try to soak up as much as I can daily about this trade. However, I've seen the way some of our drivers manuver the road and I think its not fair to put the failing categories all on us. I've seen our drivers texting, watching tv, bent below the dash etc. I assume most don't really scan the road as I wave to EVERY conway truck (ltl) included and very seldom do I get a wave back. Today it was 1 for 6.

What kind of freight does Conway haul?

Anything that can go in a dry van. This company has been amazing so far! If you have a good work ethic and are detail minded they are for you. The wage is okay for a new driver. Not as good as some but better than a lot. Having been here for almost 2 months now I can honestly tell you that I haven't talked to 1 driver from a competitor that has anything on us. Some of the people I went to school with already hate the companies that they work for.....and I'm talking BIG names!
