Do trucking companies pull all of your medical records before hiring you?
I know I can pass a residual functional capacity test or HPE, but I have a bulging disc in my lower back that I do not want them to know about.
Any help would be great.
Thanks

Review the link below and you will find your answers.
You have to sign and certify the form.

thanks. Iv'e read the regs on the form you showed me. I am just want to know if the actual trucking company can pull your medical records if you apply to them.

That is all they get.

I'm going to a nursing school right now and we just covered this ! NO one can look at your medical records unless you give them permission or they have a court order .

You sign a release with the orientation at most companies. It is one of the reasons that you then go to the doctor that they want you too. HIPAA laws are then covered and their doctor is bound to them for the form only.CAXPT and CondoCruiser Thank this.

You will have to take a company physical. The form asks if you have any chronic back pain. The doctor is suppose to check for limitations of movement. There have been some doctors that make you touch your toes. Some make you lift weights.
The form is signed by you as true and correct. Any lying makes your medical card void. The way it is now if your card is void so is your CDL.
Another question is do you take any narcotic pain medicine? That will quickly disqualify you. If not by the doctor the company won't allow it.
A straight out buldging disc is not disqualifying unless it limits your movement. So be honest about it. I would go get a cortizone shot a couple days before the physical. It'll give you temporary relief. I have three bad disc. I wear a tens unit when I have to do something. It helps tremendously. You can buy them online for $40.Roadmedic Thanks this. -
The company I was just hired on with had some paperwork indicating I give permission for them to obtain access to all medical records. I have a feeling if you refuse to sign you don't get the job.CAXPT Thanks this.
