Company trucks, they are supplied to you. Us, we purchase and get reimbursed only when the shipper calls for them. Sooner or later, we will end of losing them in a t-called trailer, and then, well, lets purchase some more. The ones that I lost, the nice little ratchet ones. Update, my DM told me to submit the load #'s and trailers, and he will get them re-imbursed. He agrees with me, if doing my job and securing a load that is not secure, then I should not be the one that bends over.
Good night from...

Sioux Falls SD... I have 7 hrs on 70 tomorrow to get to Rapid City... And a fuel stop and pretrip, so more like 6.5 hrs... Hopefully not too much delays.

got a load from loveland to west jordan ut. but cant pick up until tomorrow morning and delivers at 2200 tomorrow night. it weighs 44000 so im worried that between getting it scaled and all that im gonna be screwed when it comes to hours of service and delivery time what do you guys think?

At the Flying J in Oak Grove, KY after delivering to the Walmart DC in nearby Hopkinsville (Ft. Campbell).
Grabbed a load off Mac 30 that loads 85 miles away @ 11:00 tomorrow and delivers anytime I feel like getting there on Sunday to the Walmart DC in Palestine, TX. No use killing myself to get it there early, what are the chances of a load Sunday afternoon in east Texas?
Made up my mind, not accepting any more loads that take me east of the Mississippi. As I told my DM, I don't mind playing regional driver just so long as it's closer to home. -
Mark,
Let me know how that works out for you. Ron told me the same thing and I never got a dime.
As for t-called loads, consider not installing the seal (if it's up to you) until you drop it and remove your load locks. About 1/2 of the places I pick up at leave it up to me to seal the load. Just saying. -
How about taking a picture of the sign, just so you can show the shipper required it?
I think they would rather reimburse you up front than have to do it through small claims court.
And from what I have seen, load locks are fairly useless.
They always fall down, no matter how tight I can get them. The walls flex too much.
The only way they are effective is at the very bottom to keep a pallet from sliding back a bit.
Straps are the only way to keep things really secure, IMO. -
Oh, good night from Apple Valley, MN.
On home time until Tuesday at noon.
Woo-Hoo!!!
Making curry chicken tonight, and a roast beef tomorrow.
I love having a real kitchen, every time I get home. -
My biggest beef is when they preach load securement. Okay, I secured the load, now give me money to purchase some new straps.
-
I wish. The last two that I had to t-call, the shipper came out and sealed. When it is a t-call and I am using straps, I leave the seal off until such time, and then turn the seal in with a note, need to secure.

Unload Sunday morning in Dallas and already preplaned on a load going back to MS.
I'm the opposite, when I leave home in California I beeline it for the east and stay out here until it's time to go home ... all I care about is how many miles I have at the end of the week ... if it takes me 6 trips to get 3K, I'm fine with it ... It may take more runs but the freight is steady out here. Besides you can make a killing on fuel out here. I'm beating the national average by $.20 ...fr8monkey Thanks this.
