I'm not really one who tends to lean towards the decisions of others but in the case of the Bronx in the link below, I think it's adequate. Personally I think they could build a real nice truck stop in place of the "outlet mall" they currently have planned. Now, if it's a lack of income from said property they could charge the trucker (which is what they want anyway) but the trucker could then charge a "Bronx Parking Surcharge" for, dare I say, $515 for each truck that has to spend the night at the parking stop. That way the ultimate end user can pay their fair share and still get their toilet paper.

I boycott the northeast, anyway. unfriendly to trucks, anti idle laws, roads too narrow. I grew up up there ,but don't want to drive my 4-wheeler there ,even, lol.

I drive through there all the time and it sucks that there isn't a place to stop between exit 40 in CT and the Vince Lombardi lot lizard area in NJ. 80+ miles of nothing. Thank God I don't do reefer anymore because Hunts point would kill me; I'd have to get a truck with a bathroom in it :biggrin_2554:

before y'all go getting on your high horses--understand what is going on here--this has very little if anything to do with all of us OTR drivers--especially all of us that pull reefers in there all the time----You can still park in the mkt etc--this is aimed mostly at all the half assed local clowns that live in all the housing projects and park their trucks on the street--next time your on 95--especially between the northbound toll--at westchester toll--and the 295-695-95 split--look at all the (mostly local)trucks parked along the service road and down the side streets-The same thing goes for the Deegan(I-87)(especially north of the carousel)all the way up to the county line-All parking is a notorious problem in these areas--hell I have customers up there who tell me they park their cars 4-5 blocks away from where they live. As for the BS above nosy dirty idling trucks--most if not all of these trucks are off and cold--besides the epa nazi cops in NYC have a $$$$$ field day with idling trucks in NYC
    Just my $.02

"I don't know how to talk to them. I don't know who they are, but they don't live in this neighborhood... They wander off the highway and end up parking on city streets where they shouldn't be... I can't even venture to guess where you could put them. Nobody wants them."

As far as I'm concerned, they can either drive up to Exit 40 in CT or the Vince Lombardi rat hole and pick up whatever they need, from these trucks. If anyone depended on me to feed, house, or cloth them they would go hungry, roofless, and naked waiting on me and my truck. And, I might add, I was born and raised in the Bronx, learned the produce business from the family business in Hunts Point.
