your right and keep reading other post besides this forum. Oh by the way, the only bway to correct this is if EVERY Truck Driver goes on strike for a week. Don't worry about not making any money, you won't notice the difference but the companies will.

I have never heard or read a single bad word about W&S. There is a great thread on the W&S subforum by AmericanTrucker. He talks about orientation and his first year or two of trucking for them. I really liked my recruiter, but when I really thought about it.... I think I need time with a trainer after orientation and couldn't do the solo driver thing right away. Absolutely a company to consider.

i was actually mistaken, Estes is the freight company, Epes is an over the road company. Estes would be the job i would take, not Epes.

Yeah, residing in Estes corporate hub of Virginia, they would probably be an attractive option. However, I do not believe Estes will hire newbies. But thanks for the input!

Hello to all. Can someone explain to me, why people are saying that Stevens Transport is a bad company to start? I have a CDL class A with Hazmat and Tanker ( over a year now ) but I have not find a local trucking job because I don't have any experience. Please guys explain to me why Stevens Transport is a bad company. Thanks

I am not an expert, but when I did my research on the company they have a very low pay rate, and low miles. They are known as being a mill company, where they get new drivers in, treat them poorly, and force them to quit while the driver still owes them money for schooling. If you have a tanker and hazmat endorsement, I would look more into TMC, Maverick, H.O. Wolding, or Boyd Brothers. You would have to take a refresher course or go with a trainer depending on the companies requirements.

Prime, Inc. has reefer, tank, flatbed. Good place to see what's best for you. Start as company driver, and if you don't like it, leave. Get rolling!

Wrong. You haven't even heard of the worst companies probably.

I've worked for CRST and USX. Neither one are all that bad.

If any Boyd Bros. drivers still lurk here, I have a couple of questions. Do they hire drivers with flat bed exp. but outside of five years ago? Do they hire Delaware resident drivers, with no home-time requirements? Other then that, clean records, background, and thirteen years driving, no points or accidents.....

I was with Swift and have to say they were good to me, lots of miles good equipment, great support and they always paid me accurately and on time. I think you'll find the ones who complain about these companies are lazy deadbeats that drag their feet and don't do their job.
