You are required by law to provide him an earnings record that shows the full amount. This was earned and he will have to pay taxes on this.

D-man with your fuel card setup is there any way to set the amount of gallons purchased at a time or in a time period. For example TCH and Comdata have where you can set them up to only buy what ever limit per day you want.
Figure what they should be using if their mileage was 5 plus 25 gallons for night time idling or other weather conditions that uses more fuel. And that is the limit that can be bought every day. If they are wanting showers then this would take care of them. They could get xx gallons every day if they want to get the free shower.

First, nothing upsets me more than a thief. These types just don't seem to realize that it's not just money from the company they're stealing, it's money from their own pocket as well. No profit...No raise...sometimes, no job.

I know the selling of fuel is a problem as well as a temptation, and I've been aproached to do the same thing in times past. I've got too much self respect to stoop to that level.

To my point...it's winter...I personally try to never let my tanks get below half before I fill up in the winter months, I don't care where I'm running. This goes back to getting stuck for 5 days in a blizzard. I was in a truck stop, but couldn't move my truck even to the fuel pumps because the snow was so deep. I was lucky, my tanks were full. I've even been stuck in Texas when the Ice got bad enough to sideline me. Once again, I had plenty of fuel.

I don't really have an answer to your problem, but limiting fuel in winter might lead to other problems I mentioned.

The fuel card is set at $750 per day. With todays prices a guy can just about max it out with a fill up. It's hard to find a guy that will try to save ya a few bucks at the pump. These are the same guys whining about gas prices jumping 2-3 cents a gallon costing them a couple of bucks on a fill up, never thinking, they stop at a premium truck stop pay a extra 10-15 cents and cost me 20-30 bucks. I'll gladly pay for their shower if they can save me at the pump, if a guy has to layover a couple of days i tell'em to find a reasonable motel, it's cheaper than idling the truck 24/7. I was averaging him out at 5 (the low side) and figuring 25 idle time when i was accounting for the losses. With winter coming on i want the tanks up there, been stranded myself. Anyway, with a guy trying to rip ya and high fuel costs it's easy to get disgusted with the whole deal, like an old boy told me the other day... Welcome to the trucking industry pal! As far as the final settlement, i showed the company lawyer the figures i had and said i had sufficient evidence to tap his check, I'm telling ya that cat won't be back.

    Hey, Brickman

What a cawinkydink! I have a lawnbiz right now and going to CC for CDL. Will finish in Dec and plan to start working for Tyson OTR in Jan. What made you get out of lawnbiz and into OTR? How many customers did you have?

Your drivers could be selling fuel at the pump. Using your card to but 50 gallons in another truck.
Have you downloaded the engines computer to see how much fuel the engine is actually using.

That will let you know who is selling fuel. Download says truck is getting 6mpg and actual fuel bought for the truck is saying 4mpg.

    Go get them crooks.

^^^ Thanks, I will do that, I believe this is the way they are doing it. I thougth Truck stop operators checked the number of the truck before fueling up.

Nope....all a driver needs is the other drivers fuel card...and whatever other info you require....the attendants could care less who is actually at the pumps.... you could be out there in your pick-up....filling up a 500 gal tank in the bed....they could really care less.
