I have driven a truck for 8 years now, probably the best OTR job I've had was with Roehl from 2003 to 2006. I started as an OTR driver and then got burnt out after a year or so. I switched to there 7/7 fleet making .37 cpm and I normally got around 3300 miles. Never less then 2700. I recommend this company IF and only IF you plan on going OTR to start your career.
I did it the wrong way going OTR fresh out of school but now make more running local for a non union company, home nightly and off weekends.
If I would go back OTR it would absolutely be with a private carrier such as Ashley, CPC Logistics, etc..
Every single OTR job that advertises can be a hit or miss, there is a reason why they have tp advertise. So all the bad reports about all these garbage carriers the drivers have to take responsibilty for there actions of signing on with these run of the mill carriers. Until drivers realize that going from England to Marten to FFE isn't going to cut it then we will always have these bottom feeders that could care less about drivers and there families.
My recommendation is to start local and stay local. Pepsi, GFS, Sysco and even Conway hire straight out of school. Pay your dues and make 50k to 80k in a few years. Its either that or stay out weeks at a time and be lucky to pull in 40k.
