Well after being let go because of a call in by a car I'll start my new(old job) on Monday. I worked for this agent for five years and I'm never so glad to be back!! They are a agent for North American Van Lines in the household division which has been me since 1977 off and on. This time has been the longest I've ever been out of it(3 yrs and one month) It's going to hurt really bad trying to get back in shape!!LOL. I'll be mostly running the west coast which is what I like. Monday I'll be packing and loading (all week job) for Naples FL, a short run to get me started. Never say never but I'll never get out of it again unless it's some reason out of my control.. Thought I would give a positive update after the last negative post!!

One of those niches I would never touch for the money offered - transportng cars and HHG. All those parkings on shoulder, low trees, narrow driveways. It is like Bronx every other day for you probably. Id need to have the salary of an experienced dentist to jump through those hoops.

That's where the real truck driving comes into play. Apt buildings, high rise in the bay area, tight subdivisions and so on. Money, I think is pretty good for around 70,000 miles a year which I grossed between $225,000 & $250,000 and thats for only seven moths out of the year plus you get to stay in shape.LOL

Best of luck to you. HHG is tough work, nit picky, etc. but somebody's gotta do it.

im a mover company driver leaving my job for the flat bed experience. It was an easy summer in terms of what could have gone wrong and didnt. at my company we hired on way to many rookies and it was tough that way.

I was told that finding good HHG men anymore is very rare! Good luck with your new job. Freight was alright but sitting for hours at the docks wasn't for me. I hated it!

That is a pretty penny, but sounds like you work hard for it. Great to hear things are working out for you and be safe out there.

Good to hear! Grew up with some friends whose family was associated with Bekins. Solid three + weeks out & back for a couple days. Last I knew one of them was rolling three or four trucks. Sounded like a good deal.
