just got my company truck form central. 2011 prostar. i have a cheap 180 watt inverter i got from walmart a few years ago to run a laptop or something small in my cars. it often messes up my AM reception. have a almost new issue with it now. i have my laptop playing music through the truck stereo, but i am getting a lot of buzz along with the music. unplug the inverter from the 12v socket and buzz goes away. i got what i thought would be a slightly better unit from a pilot yesterday. 300 watt deal with a 12v plug. get the same buzz. i dont need much power. and i would prefer not to spend $400 on some big 2k watt unit to hook up to the battery. at this point i would prefer one i can run through a 12v port in the truck. and not give me the extra buzz with my music.
so any suggestions on a half decent inverter i can run on a 12v socket that wont give feedback to the radio?
half quality inverter

Try a ground,,from the radio to the frame, preferably a 1/4 braided, that's how I fixed my buzzing noise.
-
You have a ground loop. This is very common when trying to play music from a phone/MP3 player through the car stereo while charging.
This will fix it right up:
Kensington Noise Reducing Car Audio AUX Cable (Amazon link); $15 or so from various places on line.
I have 3; that way, if I lose one, I'll still have a spare... -
Ground loop isolator http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001EAQTRI

I think the title of your thread says it all.

Same problem. Problem solved.
The one I bought came with 2 ground wires. I DID have to wire the attached ground wires to the frame to fix the problem though. -
Or he can save a huge hassle and buy a simple isolator

so yank the radio out and try to ground it better. and get am isolator cable. awesome. thank you.

You don't even have to go thru the hassle of pulling it out to ground it

It's a little box with "RCA" (aka composite) inputs. On the one I have, anyways, the input are 2 males. Output is 2 females. I grounded the box to my bolt in my seat. Pure audio bliss now.
Google is your friend. Actually, check your local "Car Audio Specialist". That's where I got mine. $20 and a $9 adapter from Radio Shack.
