Just wondering. I hate the factory coax. The antennae double as the radio antenna for the stereo, too!

I want to run my own coax, but I don't know where I can mount my antenna. I'd be fine with mounting just one somewhere, but I'm not sure where I should mount or where I should run my coax cable. I have a pair of firesticks (the tunable ones) I could either do a dual configuration, but I'd rather just use one. I haven't selected any mounting hardware yet, because I don't even know where to mount the thing. Any suggestions, preferably with a photo, would be greatly appreciated!

I'm also trying to keep it simple... hence only using a single antenna, just in case I don't stay in this truck for long. I'm a company driver.

Here's a pic of my truck for reference.

there should be a mount for the mirror on the door, but i dont remember where I saw them, only thing with mounting them that low is you need to use a 5-5.5' francis, firestik, etc or you can get 1 of the mounts for the rear that mounts to the side fairing brackets and wraps around to the outside of the side fairing, I have seen these on walcottcb.com those are the 2 ideas that come to mind that work ok.

Sounds good. I saw the freight liner Cascadia mirror mount before. Maybe it works on a Pete I just have to be careful not to drill or otherwise damage the truck in any way to use it.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

Galaxy dx 979 it's tuned and peaked. I have a linear, but don't use it. Not hooked up. I don't think I could shoot that kind of skip with my little radio!

I wound up putting one of my firesticks on a mount on the back of my tractor at the top of the metal handle on the left wing. Sticks up just a little above the top of the truck and I get fantastic SWR readings now. I hear good and now when I key up, I don't hear it through my stereo speakers! I ran a K40 weatherproof coax through my toolbox door and out the slot below my bunk into my cab to reach my radio. got the mount and cables with points! Much happier!

I've got my firestik mounted like that, great swr but the fact that the majority of the antenna is blocked ruins most of what my cobra 200 puts out. Really need to find a suitable solution so I can use my monkey made and get out better. The Cascadia mount won't work because it is fitted to that specific mirror using bolts already in place to attach mount. This is like pulling teeth trying to get a solid solution

Right I've seen that but wouldn't the whip of a MM beat your truck

I bought a mount that is similar to the outback, it works better but I'd still rather find a solution to get more antenna in the open air rather than be so close to the truck.
