Good luck in Gary! I loaded up the laptop with a ton of digital movies but plan on having the PS3 in the truck!

I trained March through July of this year before I left and didn't have a single student who didn't grind gears a bit on their first day (week). I always pointed out when I was driving if I grinded a gear. Always made them feel better that I occasionally ground one too. :)

The instructors have been great....our instructor has been good about letting us just learn and not pick on every single little thing we do wrong. So far I am very happy with the training we have received and I look forward to continuing to improve and build my skills.

    Treefork Thanks this.

The truck in school will shift a bit different from the OTR trainer truck...which will be different from your truck...prepare to be frustrated at each change. I am in a loaner truck qith a 13-speed and over 660k miles. All the beating its taken shows in how it shifts. Sloppy shifter =gear banging. "Lucky me...over a week now to figure it out.

Sorry for the lack of updates, but the Internet at the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. This was a busy week....a lot of driving and backing. In the end I passed my driving test yesterday with only 2 points! Got to start working on some securement yesterday for the second half. So far I've spent about $150 for food the past two weeks which includes eating out a few times. Next week we will go to DMV and get our CDL's so I will post that cost when we get them. Otherwise it's been a great experience, just keep in mind the instructors have their own ways of teaching and while some are a bit strict...when you test you will understand that they genuinely just want to ensure you get the material down! I'm looking forward to finishing this last week so I can get home and see my family.
