try and watch how you trainer does.do this from inside and outside the truck.have him explain it while he,s doing it. also i donb,t stress about getting it in the hole in one shot. my job is too get it in even if it takes 5 tries.once ur out of school there,s no points for too many pull ups. just stay calm and get it in.
maybe i should quit

if at a truck stop find a diff. hole. heck, there some days I can't back for squat !! I pull out, park, wander around cuss afew times. get back in and sometimes get it right. sometimes not. and I've doing this quite a few years.
use your imagination to think where the trailer wheels will be going. "you have to be one with your rig". don't laugh I am actually serious.lol when you are driving in tight spots ,watch where the wheels are and in time you can think of it in reverse. does that make sense ??lol -
I'm not asking anyone to feel bad I just needed advice. My trainer said I'll get it an I probably will. Thanks guys I won't quit he even said he couldn't do it at a his co driver had to do it lol.

Quick question....
If you figured it out and mastered backing, at least to the point that it became fun in challenging situations, would you stick it out? -

I almost forgot how to back up when I pulled a flatbed. Then when I went back to reefers...Ouch!!!

Do your training and get out of there.

I hated backing when I first went out......I'd get so nervous in truck stops....if I couldn't find an edge or pull through spot I would leave. One day I decided to stop being afraid and start mastering my craft. It didn't take long and I was fine......you will be too!!!
This gig isn't easy......the starting pay blows monkey stick......but when it gets better....AND IT WILL.....there's nothing like.pulling that truck on the interstate. Stick with it....you'll see.bonbonsron Thanks this. -
All good advice I'm going 2 do my best in training an then play with backing when I get out there. I do have a question though my lead never turns down a load but gets bad loads what's up with that we are never late. We have run as teams since day one what's going on?
