All anyone needs is my name... I hand over my twic card when I have to prove who I am.... I've had some Recievers look at it and tell me that it's not an acceptable form of ID... I've had to explain to a few people what it is, and one still refused to accept it, until I had their boss, and then the bosses boss come to examine what it was that I was producing for them... Some people apparently think the only form of government ID is a license... My wife is from Russia, and we went to a bar one night, and was denied entry because the doorman said that a pASSPORT is not an ID... Morons...

I have had shippers/reciever ask for CDL, I always leave my wallet in my truck, I tell them It's in the truck but I know the number, is that ok?, Most say yes, then I give them a bogus number, I do know it by heart, I just scramble the number when i write it down

I went and took a copy of my license, blacked out my personal information other than my name and put the carrier information on it.

then I made them into business cards.

If they ask for it, THAT is what they get and they can keep it.

I'll tell you one that bugs the hell out of me. TWIC. Once hauled a set of fork lifts down to NIT in Norfolk, VA and they said my 14 year old son had to have a TWIC card or I couldn't come in. What a bunch of BS crap.

TWIC is nothing more that a BIG defence contractor that got paid a lot of money from working the people in Washington. Lockeed Martin.
Its nothing more than a membership card

Maybe off topic, but your 14 yr old will not need a TWIC. All you should need is a TWIC escort to be with you in the port for the time you are there...

We have 3 plants for a major food manufacture here in town that i deal with on a daily basis. At 2 of them they let you in a fenced in area where you "sign in". While i was waiting for them to decide which plant was getting my delivery the other day, i was able to flip through pages where drivers had "signed in" with their printed name, signature, DL number and state. There was no reason that i couldnt just lean on counter with my back to the camera and remove a few pages to take with me.
