Don't ever feel the need to push, when you can't, as others have said. Your safety department will always takes sides with you over dispatch. But that is not to say dispatch won't be upset...
Exercising sometime during the day helps get a better night's or day's sleep. You can even walk laps around the TS while eating a sandwich for your lunch or dinner...

Never felt as if I'd ever fall asleep at the wheel, but driver fatigue? Sure.
My palms would start to sweat and my reaction time would be slightly delayed.
What works for me is sunflower seeds and pinch tobacco. Or getting out to take a piss and/or

tired or a little sluggish; try Vitamen B-12. Energy lose can come from sugar highs and lows or vitamen difficiency.

Guilty as charged. Sometimes I have to fight fatigue and I get somehow really angry when this happens because it can occur only 10-15 miles from your planned stop. Sleeping on the shoulder is not an option, you could be rearended while putting triangles out. I worked for a fleet,they had 2 trucks hit on the same day like that.
Have to agree about those E-logs. They would have an appointment at 4a.m.,reload at 9, and you can be dog-tired in the afternoon just trying to cover some miserable 400 miles for that day.
For me driving 3500 m per week is a piece of cake. What makes me tired is a shipper delay, late dispatch, anything that breaks the routine then it takes a few days to return back to rhythm
