Ditto on the Cobra 29. That's all we run in our trucks and it does the job just fine. I understand they may come with a Blue Tooth option now?

    Traumadrew Thanks this.

Actually I've held a cellular conversation my entire trip thru northern Montana. Shall we continue?

I just put a bid on a cobra 29 with wx channels. So we shall see what the outcome is. I really don't know a #### thing about them so if I win it I will have to get you all to help me get it in the truck. That's a while down the road though! Thanks for everyone's input!

Not really not worth it. I lived in Montana for 7 years and have been on just about every road in every corner of the state. I think I have a better handle on coverage than someone who drove through it once. Your desire for argumentation is pointless and off topic. Every bit of sound advice I have given has been learned from real life experience over nearly 60 years. Except the EMP scenario of course but I understand the science quite well and even there my points are correct and valid.

His starting question was should I have a CB and all I have done is point out I believe yes it is a good idea and posted many possible reasons why I believe my opinion has validity. Therefor not off topic at all. I cannot help the fact that you do not agree nor do I see the reason you wish to keep putting down my comments and continuing a pointless argument which is clearly based upon immaturity and a lack of years of life experience. Therefor if you wish to keep badgering me for my honest advice be my guest but do so alone. We each have a right to state our answers to a question in the hopes that due respect to our opinion will be given just as you would hope your opinion could stand on it's merits unchallenged since it is after all your right to hold your own opinions. Reading your first post indicated you were in effect disrespecting my advice to the point of being insulting which is evident from words like "Get around traffic? I'm smart enough to use a map. Same with getting directions into a place.".

In effect this is an implication that you think I am not smart enough to read a map since your post was in effect directed at my first post. If you cannot see the attitude you are clearing directing at my advice I cannot help it we each have to mature on our own. Hopefully. In any case I've stated my case and explained why I had an attitude about the way you were directing comments towards my post. Further escalated by yet another post aimed at me "Actually I've held a cellular conversation my entire trip thru northern Montana. Shall we continue?". A wise mature person of reasonable intelligence can take this as nothing other than a wish to start and create a hijacking argument with yet another post aimed at another member without any just reason for doing so.

Your disrespect to me is clearly seen since my years in Montana outweighs your trip through it as far as knowledge of coverage in the state is concerned. In any case I have hijacked the thread enough in making my point if you wish to continue it do so alone. I for one like the way traumadrew speaks here with his honest desire for advice on the subject and have no wish to interfere with his quest for information any further.

    Your first post:

"Been without a CB for years and haven't sat there once wishing I had one. Almost any place will take your phone number as well to call you when your done. Makes your sleep much easier during wait time instead of hearing the whole parking lot jibber all night.

CB for scales? Haven't seen one since the POS ones flying J had.

Get around traffic? I'm smart enough to use a map. Same with getting directions into a place. Call the customer. Use google maps to check all surrounding roads for a escape plan and verify it via road atlas and GPS. Beats a CB everytime. That driver you ask for directions from may be toying with you and send you in a bad area or wrong direction."

By the way thanks for proving my case with your post below.

    anj8488 "Brb calling the wahmbulance"

And no, editing it out and replacing it with "Oh geez....." does not work as I had already saved the post.

I do like the fact that you can get a warning about accidents that have road colsed and can get directions around rather than sit in traffic for hours. Or getting into an area

Yeah, but what happens when you get someone who is purposely giving you wrong directions?
