Now imagine that this driver is on an interstate like I95 in philadelpha, and if your npt familiar with that part, it leans on a hill and has some bends. Easy for a regular load but if he does the speed limit at 65 mph on the bends, that load will shift and lean past the tipping point.

if u look in the north jersey craigslist its 75% port/peir jobs. I got my hazmat twic and sealink, which is all a ripoff. I was offered a peir job to do the elizabeth/newark ports but for 16.00 an hour. I asked why only 16.00 an hour? because youll be sitting around most of the day doing nothing. ok, but that doesnt pay my bills. I made 18.00 right out of school 8 years ago. And nothing annoys me more then being unproductive and waiting around all day, so i passed on that gig. only plus was a 2011 tractor. this youtube video of the line at the nj /ny peir is the reason i would never do it at least not for 16.00 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGcO6qtIqMQ

Yep, intoxicated, i agree. Doing pier work is like 80% sitting and only 20% driving. My estimated percentages. I was pulling into our warehouse.one.day doing.lkke 5 mph, and their is a hill and i swear the container looked like it was gonna kiss the ground. There is alot of bull you have to deal with at them piers and if your a runner, you wont like doin it. Almost everyone in those piers treats the drivers like garbage. Most of your roll overs are containers because drivers dont adjust from standard trailers to containers. There is a huge difference. Its like carrying two boxes that look like yet loaded differently: 1 half filled with heavy contents and the other fully filles with heavy contents. There is obviously a difference in carrying one verses the other, same with hauling containers. At one point or another it will have you on the edge of your seat.

Seen your video, intoxocated, #### they are some long lines to get into the pier. Thats somewhat what I deal woth. And I get paid apx $16 hr. I hear other drivers complaining and they have every right too, bc they are getting paid per load, in north jersey and nyc piers guys are waiting all day even until night fall. Sometimes. Thats whaf i heard anyway from other.drivers who get paid per load. So they are in line pretty much for free. After waitkng to get into the pier there is 2 other lines, 1) waitin line for an open window to talk to a receptionist and get trailer assigned 2) a line for the check point to get trailers inpected on the way in and a 3 rd additional line to get your new container inspected on the way out. Not including waiting.for a crane to come over to you and grab your container they are jerks. They will pass you by, make you wait and sometimes ( had thiz happen to me) as i was pointing.out my container, the crane operator got confused and got mad, so he left me and came back later

I even had a crane operator get so mad at me bc i was in his way, he got off the crane and approached me to threaten me" so i grabbed my tire thumper. This all going on while security watched me. After i grabbed my thumper security said, " you hit him with that you will be here all day" apparently they are federal workers and union. I told security " its ok for him to come at me but i cant defend myself?" I wanted to quit that job. Pier work is for drivers who have a.million points on their license and stkll wanna truck in my opion. No effense to those who like it. Just ticks me off, what goes on there.

Looks a lot like port work at Mobile AL container terminal. Most of the container companies here pay around $13 an hour. They are always looking for drivers and O/O's. Port of New Orleans is a lot of waiting too. They have an inspection line going in and some of the inspectors will always try to write you up for damage even if it was damaged when you picked it up. I worked for one company that started paying a flat rate for some loads they ran regularly so with all the waiting you would make $50 for 10 hrs work. I didn't last long after that.

Most loads lean to the right because the road is tilted for water to runoff. But most containers i get are just heavy.. I get a light one sometimes

2009, I agree, its all a bunch of bull. Drivers dont make enough to survive and have to deal with the crap at the pier. Its not worth the headache. My company does pier work like all the time, it suckz. Yea, freight, those containers are heavy and top loaded. So given the right speed, the right angle of road and goodbye you go.
