I knew about the pay increase but not the MPG and mileage quota, I will have to get more info on this and decide if I can afford to come back.

Is this a good company to drive for? I'm trying to find out which flatbed companies have happy drivers that make a decent living and get home at least a couple times per month.

I think it is a good company, I got home a couple times a month while on National flats, the old pay system was still decent, and I never had any real problems with my dispatchers. The equipment is well maintained and most everyone you deal with in the company are easy to get along with.

don't think there's going to be a safety bonus anymore.

it has specifically not been mentioned in the telephone messages, and the messages have emphasized that the new plan rewards you immediately, " . . . and you won't have to wait until the end of the quarter anymore . . ."

i'd like it if they would just put the whole thing on the table so i could see it, rather than dribbling it out in little bits. the way it's been coming out piecemeal appears manipulative and patronizing. i'm sorry, but koepl's delivery sounds like he's selling ginsu knives, and does not instill trust.

I just called and asked what I was going to be paid on Monday. All I was told is that if I hadn't had an accident/crash in the last 90 days, I would get at least one cent more than I'm making now. I was also told that I would probably get much more than that, but they are still computing everything. Really? Come on. Monday is only 3 days away. I really don't care, as long as I don't take a pay cut. They have said that won't happen, but it would be nice to know what my payrate will be next week. It is a bit strange how they are putting the new payplan out a little bit at a time. Are they afraid a bunch of drivers will quit? I figure as long as my pay doesn't go down, I'm not going anywhere. I'm at .41cpm now. They say I won't make any less than that no matter what my performance. So, I ask,,,, How can they not know 3 days before the change,,, what a driver will be making. I was told to call back tomorrow and they might have more info. Crazy.

it does not sound like the implementation has been thought-through, no matter how carefully they planned the new pay scale. i suspect that the reason for the dribbling is so that everybody gets a paycheck before the plan is explained, so that nobody calculates their new pay wrong and bails. but there's no way to know.

still, we're not talking about company T-shirts here. this is my pay, which is why i'm here. screwing around like this with my pay-- without the slightest input from me or from any other actual drivers-- is a pretty ########### way to do business.

You guys need to worry less.

We can all sit here and make fun of planning, routing, FM's, Fleets, and who mommy and daddy love more. Most of the major problems listed by individuals in this forum, are heavily dependent upon the Driver, and their FM. "Roehl" as a company Does not do big changes lightly, and honestly, they don't do them badly, either. sure, there may be hiccups, but if a noteworthy amount of drivers, suddenly took a paycut, they'd figure out why, and fix it.

It doesn't matter how much per mile you get if the miles are not consistent.

The MPG standards are out of whack because I had the same goal hauling 45k over the hills of PA on a regular basis as a guy rolling through the midwest did. With that said, it may not matter, I was trying to come back but they may have too many hoops to jump through for me to do it, might have to stay where I am or look elswhere.
