My question is... Why wouldn't you want one? The positives of having one outweigh the negatives by a LARGE margin.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 cause my cb ain't that hi-tech
Do you need one?

What ever happen to the sang "If you have nothing good to say, don't say anything"?? Really, come on man!!
I hate to pull this crap "I've been truckin almost 30 years" and I've never had one problem with getting directions or a short cut info from other people on the CB!! The only time I've ever gotten bad directions was when I was stuck in the middle of traffic right downtown Philly!!! That was way back in my first year of driving a truck (1987). And ####...... I've have plenty of bad directions from shippers/receivers themselves, so what's really the difference??? Heck, even the dang GPS has taken me of into never never land, too!!
The cell phone thing???? Well, you might have a service that works in many area's that other service's don't cover. Verizon has about the best coverage that I know of. I've been in some pretty remote area's of Idaho, eastern Oregon and northern Nevada and have had coverage on my Verizon phone while my friend sitting right next to me has had NO coverage on his AT&T cell phone.
Like I and some other positive thinking people have said, having a CB in your truck is an excellent tool to have ready to use when/if you need it. You don't have to have it on all the time if you don't want. And they are fairly cheap anyway (about $130.00 for a Cobra 29).
Anyway, that's my rant that I shamefully let myself get sucked into.123456, Traumadrew, 48Packard and 2 others Thank this. -
would have come in REALLY handy last night to have had me help shine my headlights where a driver needed them since he was backing up across a main road, with no street lights, in the middle of the country into a side township road trying to turn around.
But since the idjit didn't have a radio or just didn't have the stupid thing on,
Everyone got to sit there and watch him try to stick his truck into the ditch and almost roll it. -
I'm one of those who really doesn't care a whit about a CB as far as yammering away on it...I prefer my music. HOWEVER, I still would not be without one despite the fact I use it very selectively. Went without one briefly a few years ago when I was in a loaner, and I missed having it.

That's just one of the many causes for usage of the proverbial 4-pound hammer.

Or that your side box is open, your gloves are on the step, etc........

It occurs to me here you are on a CB thread putting down the CB...........And you don't want to start something?????? Yeah right!
-
You sound paranoid! Does it happen, probably,........ never happened to me though. You could just stay home and be safe I guess.

Easy guys. We are all adults here. Thank you all for your input. I will be placing one in my truck. I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have one. Thinking about being by myself alone as a new driver in a jam packed city being lost scares the #### out of me so I will be glad to get some advice. I'm man enough to admit that situation as a new driver is terrifying. If you all hear a grown man crying it will be Traumadrew!
123456 Thanks this. -
Had my CB among other items stolen recently. It's not high on my priority list, so I've bought most of the other items first and waiting a few paychecks to buy another one. I do miss it even though I rarely use it. It's gotten me out of a few traffic jams and what-not. I had a Cobra 29 with Nightwatch and Weather. Read the reviews on Amazon and such before making your decision. I will say the only thing I wish it did have was Talkback.
