Interesting. You're in NY and go to Georgia while I'm in Virginia and they'd send me to Utah! But wait, the recruiter wanted to know if my school provided a minimum 160 hours "behind the wheel". The answer was a resounding NO! ... not even close. In fact the total of all my training was only documented as 160 hours. Wonder if that's why I'd have to go straight to UT?
Recruiter said my training would be 2 + 5 weeks... 7 total.

the reason petey is going to ga is that he already has his cdl hes only gonna be doing orentation not the 2 week school to get his cdl. you will be going to slc to get your cdl liscence at centrals school. this will take a week and4 days then 3 days in orentation to get acclimated with the company procedures and policies = 2 weeks. then you will go out on your trainers truck and learn to actually drive and handle shippers and receivers for 5 weeks. add the 2 toegher and theres your 7 weeks. only ga residents take the cdl school in ga some wacky law ga has or at least thats the way it used to be.
-
or maybe its 2 full weeks of school and then 3 days orentation. oh well its either one or the other.

I didn't realize I'd have to get another CDL in addition to my Virginia one.Arkansas Frost Thanks this.

If you already have a cdl you will not need to get another one. Your refresher corse will be 2 weeks and you will do everything the noncdl students are doing, but will not test. They do this to make sure you have their basic knowledge. There are some schools who do not teach that well. In my class there was a guy who got his cdl from a community college and he could not back at all. Had Central just tossed him in a trainers truck, it may have turned out baddly.
The class is 12 days (2 weeks sundays off) then orentation m-w the following week and you get on your trainers truck between w-f. OTR training is a minimum of 28 days, upto 6 weeks, depending on if the trainer thinks you are ready to upgrade. Most of my students upgrade in about 30-32 days. My longest student was 40 days, and 2 upgraded on their 28th day.Nottoway Thanks this. -
Ok. Good information. But is there any pay for the refresher course? Any charge? Any implied obligation?
Thanks! -

Hello Fellow Central Drivers, Just found this site, seen some fresh posts thought I would sign up and join in.
Lady K Thanks this. -
Ok, I'm gonna have to go with the no's on this one. There are more than enough jack###es on here and way too few people actually trying to help others. Even when I have read posts where I didn't agree with you, I left it alone for the most part because you're actually trying to be helpful. I write things knowing I sound like a company mascot, but it's because I work hard and get taken care of. I'm out here for my family and I know some days it sucks but we need people who actually give a #### to stay, not self-righteous know it alls... End objection, lol. Good luck whatever you decide. More than once I thought you were the only sane response to a thread.Jarhed1964 Thanks this.
