Driver bypassed a scale in Georgia. He was ticketed for bypassing the scale and for not signing and dating his overwidth permit. We are a new carrier (+/- 6 months old) with one truck. There was not a specific fine on the ticket but there is a court date listed in November. What are the likely consequences? How does this affect the company and driver's CSA score (or other things)?

It will show up, any time it involves a permit violation. Lucky they did not void the permit also, must be in blue ink as well.
-
doubt they woulda voided the over permit. least out here in the west they're pretty lenient.
he has a permit. it belongs to the truck. that's the main thing.
passing the scale is what i'd be worried about.
and it don't have to be in blue ink. just has to be signed. course, they usually don't pull anyone in around here. they usually find it in the database. cept for colorado. where i just showed them the faxed copy still on my laptop. -
How far was the state line. Might have to get a bigger hammer on that ride. Whip and ride.
-
He was just entering the state so to get 200 miles across the state would have been difficult!

Not signing the permit probably won't effect your companies CSA score as this falls under "Local Regulations" and I don't think CSA scores are effected under this clause. It's pretty much all on him as far as the ticket goes. Not to sure about bypassing the scale, it could be fatigued driving, but I'm not sure. Did he blow passed the scale, or did he get into the wrong lane get green lighted then drive off?

Somebody didn't read the permit, all the instruction are on it including stopping at scales and signing it, had he made it to Alabama the would have looked for the signature in red ink.
Did he run the scales or just not follow the signs to go to the rear? -
When ticketed for skipping a scale, you get CSA points.vangtransport Thanks this.

Wow, Sorry about that. Hope everything goes ok with that ticket. Tell your driver he had vision problems and that his glasses were broken and he was going to get a new pair at the next truck stop. Are you sure you have the right driver for that truck?

aiwiron, I wasn't sure about that part of it.
aiwiron Thanks this.
