I had a fellow driver tell me over the CB that I was about to lose half of my lower flarings on my old truck. I thanked her and pulled off. The mounts had broken and it took me 5 min to secure it with a bungee strap. IMO, more secure than the mounts Freightliner provided, lol.

I won't travel without a CS, saved my butt more than once.
I will try to let a truck know if something is wrong, but I've had a few that couldn't hardly get their attention as they had their cell phone STUCK in their ear. -

I always have my radio on, usually have my squelch turned up pretty high so unless you have a really big radio or are within a 1/2 mile or so of me I wont hear you, but I leave it that way so that I can hear when other drivers try to warn me of impending danger...
I always try to warn other drivers of danger, if they don't respond to me on the radio I will flash my lights at them, if that's not enough I'll wave my arms at them or do whatever I have to do to get there attention if that matter is pressing enough, I don't understand why anyone would not warn a fellow driver of a dangerous situation that's ahead of them? -
I look at the truck in question before I decide whether or not to do anything. If its a nice truck, clean, obviously well maintained, O/O or a company that obviously takes pride in their equipment, I'll try to get the driver's attention and let him or her know there's an issue. If the truck is a mess, obviously poorly maintained, i.e. bent skirts, duct taped mirrors, not been washed in years, I don't bother. I just let em' go because chances are the driver already knows about the issue and doesn't care so I'll either get ignored or possibly an ## mind your own business in return. And if its a truck pulling a container, I won't bother no matter what condition the tractor is in.

My CB stays on at all times. You never know when it can save your arse!
All these drivers that don't run a radio need to understand it is a trucking tool that can be very helpful.gb2nyc Thanks this. -
And how. I had no idea that Obama was the devil incarnate before I had a CB. I also had no idea that black people were somehow inferior to other races until I had a CB. And if I didn't have a CB, I would have no earthly idea that Canadian truckers were idiots simply because they have to nerve to be from Canada. I wouldn't have known any of that if I didn't have a CB. Which is why my CB is off most of the time.
I agree, its a tool. But these days, its a completely useless tool 99% of the time because of that kind of crap.
