Never felt violated, been having DOT physicals since I was 19. I haven't had to turn and cough every time either surprisingly.

 

sometimes as 'professionals' we have to do embarrassing things. it happens. suck it up. Do I agree? No. But we let ourselves be put in this position of security over privacy. Only time I would complain is if the doc seemed to be having 'too good of a time' and I didnt geta number.

 

Had to with mine....strange though, doctor said he was giving me prostrate test, got the lube out, bent me over......as he he was giving me the test I could feel both of his hands on my shoulders....strange.

 

at least up here a medical is mandatory every five years if you want a class 1 license. after 45 its every other year. I was reading something to the effect that in the USA , they may make the doctors take a special course before they can issue drivers medicals. to get rid of the guys that just rubber stamp the form and take your money. something about some accidents that were clearly caused by medical conditions that were clearly apparent to anyone with half a brain.

I think id rather have a random person do it. My old man gets doctor who gives him a prostate pokin is a guy he graduated high school with. I just cant imagine someone i partied or hung out with years ago pokin me.

 

Checking the prostate is NOT part of the standard FMCSA physical

 

It may not be part of the DOT physical but it is part of a good physical after a certain age. with certain other symptoms it can eliminate prostate issues and let them look to other possibilities. Not my idea of a good time either, then again its not near as uncomfortable as cancer treatment

 

My old man is also not a driver. I was just making an off topic statement about rather seeing a doctor who is just my doctor. Not my friend.

 

Prostate cancer can be detected by including PSA testing in blood work . High PSA levels could be followed up with a biopsy . Prostate removal is the best treatment for prostate cancer . Even if radiation stops cancer once as long as the prostate remains more cancer can show up later . I have never heard a good ending to prostate cancer treated with radiation .
A few days ago my sister died from the effects of radiation treatments for lung cancer , NOT from the cancer . My daughterinlaw's mother had lung cancer over a year ago , had the lung removed , and is enjoying life cancer free .
