I think this will do more harm than good . It'll just help vets decide to be exploited by CDL mills and BFI's .

It's getting to the point I am seeing being a vet as a form of welfare status.

We were taught to adapt, improvise and think on our feet. If you can't even figure out how to get your own #### driver's license, WTH?

The military can be a good place to work, but it has some pretty bad side effects. This is one; risking your life for a country that won't give you a job when or if you get out.

The last thing we need is more legislation. There are many companies that will give vets priority when hiring. We owe our vets and their families much for their sacrifice. We don't need more legislation. We need policies that get this economy off life support and moving again. What we need is a new administration that knows how to create jobs and reduce debt. It will do more to help our vets if we elect people to office who have practical business experience and who will move this economy forward.

It isn't about not being able to get a license, but about being able to get a license in the state you are stationed. If your residence is in California, but you are stationed in Tennessee, it is impossible to get a CDl before getting out of the military.

My objection to this is it encourages soldiers to choose to try to enter the trucking industry rather than make better career choices . Does a soldier returning from a deployment really want to be away from his family weeks at a time . Are they being advised carriers aren't increasing their fleet size ? The just need fresh meat because of a driver turnover 100 percent .

I have a friend who is a slodier and just came back from afganistan and he said that he will never ever will be apart from his family again. He will find some local job instead of driving a truck.

I don't see any benefit getting a CDL before discharge . We know training certificates are useless if you go too long before being hired after training . Carriers ge tax credits for hiring uneployed veterans so unemployed veterans will get priority over recently discharged veterans.
