I'll never see another scale ticket like this...

Figuring out angles to back into a dock and weight distribrution is apples and oranges. Sorry, but if you have a trailer near gross, you aren't going to be able to figure out your axle weights by what your tires look like. You might get close, heck any of us with enough experience is going to put in on the scale and be close enough where we don't have to slide the tandems more than a hole or 2...but to say you don't even need to scale cause you "know"...well let's just say you will fit right in with the drivers sitting at the Skillet sharing there "can you top this" stories.

 

Dang!!! I wish that I was half as good as you are!!! Just think of how good you will be after 2 years experience!

 

I pull a pneumatic and almost always 33,500 on drives and trailers and 12000+ on steers. If I'm only 31000 something on trailer and drives, then I'm light lol. It seems I'm always pushing 80k. Couple weeks ago I was loading in Aiken, SC and you load off of your gauges. When I stopped the guy, pulled ahead, slammed the load around and hit the scale, I was 34000 on drives, 33,950 on trailer and 1200 on steers with 3/4 tank of fuel. I kept the scale ticket....lol

 

KMac, first off if you hadnt of eaten the buffet for lunch you wouldnt be 20#'s over!!!

As far as Texas scales go, 75% of the time they are closed. I run I-20 and I-30 east of Dallas alot. I have got pulled into scales on both hwys and have had a level 1 and level 2 DOT. I-20 gave me a warning ticket because I had one trailer marker bulb out. I-30 was level 2 and got no violations.

A couple of weeks ago at the scales NB just out of Ardmore, OK I was pulled in to talk with the kind gentlemen inside. I was (still am) in a rental truck and got 2 tickets because of paperwork issues on the rental. They wouldnt let me leave until they had $300 in their hands.

Like was said earlier, Texas is normally closed but when you need them to be closed, they will be open!

I know who you drive for and I dont think that we need to worry about this, but dont be a super trucker like the other clown in here. Just play it safe and scale out!

 

I hear ya... Only a handful of times I didnt scale when I was there but that was because I had a 15,000 LB load.

Where Im at now I dont scale. I haul 4 small (Hondas, Mazdas, etc) and dont come anywhere close to 80,000. My company doesnt reimburse.

 

Truck is equipped with a system that monitors the air pressure and yes. I didn't say that looking at the tires alone does the trick, there are other factors that all add up which I have already explained. You guys can deny and misunderstand it all you want, it works for me every time. Keep going to the catscale.

 

I did the same thing once and went to the Loves at Heyburn, Idaho to weigh and the scale ticket read 12,000, 34,000, and 34,000. I carried that ticket around for several years and would show it every once in awhile, it finally got ragged looking and I had to toss it.
