i just keep mine with my clipboard. turn em into office NEXT weeek.
that way i'm not printing twice. and as for the current day. just show em my laptop of todays screen.
all they are looking for is you not being over hours.
the day isn't over with so there's nothing to print up yet.
as for printers burning out. walmart can be found anywhere and will usually have one for $30 or so.
OR if i run out of ink and it has't been on my mind for new cartridges while i'm at home. -
I've been playing around with BigRoad, it's a free app for android found in Google's Play Store. The company I drive for uses loose-leaf logs, so I concentrate on making sure it's filled out, up-to-date. However I've been able to create a full daily log in BigRoad from my loose-leaf, just to let you know how versatile the app is.

Dieselboss and Oscar the KW Thank this. -
Too bad it requires the GPS. Mine is disabled because of the costs when in Canada. -
I got pulled into a scale last night for the first time since using Eclipse. I had a book of my printouts and my laptop with me. I tried to get the man to look. I tried to show him how great of a job I was doing with my new computer and new three ring binder that I had put my new log sheets that had been printed on my new $35 printer and punched out with my new three hole paper punch but NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. He took one look at the set up and sent me on my way. So, I say, if you want to get inspected these things are a complete waste of time.
cowboy_tech, Eaton18 and Hanadarko Thank this. -
I have seen some devices and software that will allow you to fax the log sheet(s) to the DOT inspector. QualComm does this as do a few of the apps. Does Eclipse also have this feature.

I run Eclipse. No issues. Faxing isn't a feature of the program but your windows can be setup
with a fax printer (print-to-fax) or like I do, print to a PDF file and then fax that if needed.
I print off the prior day BEFORE rolling the next morning during my pre-trip inspection.
I keep the last 7 days printed in a binder and the current month within the Eclipse program.
At the end of the month, I print a total to a PDF file, archive it off-line and in a safe place and then PURGE anything in the laptop.
Paper copies of my logs are discarded as soon as they age. I dont want anything more than I have to have in the rig or in my program.
When you run e-logs, you are required to have paper logs in the rig in case the e-logs program or equipment fails.
I was asked by a DOT cop to show that I had paper logs available, which I was easily able to do.
Printer is an HP1000 from Wally world. Dirt cheap and I keep a few ink cartridges in the rig along with a pile of paper.
The two DOT cops that saw my program love it. While I won't use a GPS for it, I do stamp each log entry with the miles and location and the DOT get all giddy about that. Even a 5min vehicle check is logged with the miles and exact location.
I also use a digital signature and have had no issues.
Its the best program out there.Ukumfe Thanks this. -
