Alot of different things are going on up here now. Things have changed alot in the last year.Theres still hope, not all small trucking companys are bad. Half a brain and you will know who is worth working for. Some of us are still busy.Talk to employes of the company if you want to know the truth.Alot of the bad is leaving, they under bid and now cant pay there bills. Not the first time that has happened. Its a waiting game now.The strong will make it and the fly by nights will go back home.Do your homework

I will throw up a link to one of my posts from earlier, its some tips I wrote for people thinking about coming out to the ND: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...919-jobs-in-nd-oil-patch-129.html#post2691337

There is work out here, you just gotta find it. Everyone hears about how much the crude haulers make and all try to go for that right away, there are tons of things to haul out here and all pay pretty good. Now I agree if you can get yourself a crude hauling job you will most likely make more money, but almost every truck driver out here is making $20+/h which is most likely more then your making where you live now.

Here is a list of some things drivers haul so you can look them up and try to find jobs hauling them:

Obvious ones:
Sand
Water
Crude

Other things:
Flyash
Waste water
Scoria
Battery tanks
Pipe
Cement
Lime
Office Trailers
Super Sacks

All of that is stuff that the sites need almost everyday, dont let people tell you there is no work out here. You just gotta do a lot of calling around and find it, but stay away from the O/O's who try to get you to drive there trucks! Now there may be some good ones out there, but most the time they will not have steady work and wont be able to pay you for 90 days.

Hope this helps,

We are talking trucking companies. Halliburton is still busy here and if you are on frac, they have the most frac crews (and work) in ND. Halliburton is probably a safe bet still. Now if you said SLB I might tell you to hold off....

Good point. It's the majority of owner ops all newbs to ND need to stay away from. They don't own the work. Some have been leased for many many years so they may have a good footing but some just showed up last year and think they are a big fish in a small pond. Problem is that they are the first to go if it slows down. If you speak to and owner op for a job you should be asking how long they've been working in ND and how long they've been leased to the company they are with right now. We have o/o's that have been around for 8+ years.
And I wouldn't say it's SLOW here as ND still 187 rigs - not including MT rigs (high of two hundred eighteen not including the MT rigs) and the most frac companies ever. Many companies are still hiring drivers. The company I work for is looking for 20-30 drivers right now. I don't want to advertise on this site for my company but you can PM me. The only catch is that drivers need 1 year of CDL A experience AND must have oilfield experience. There are so many guys looking for work up here that my company required oilfield experience. Occasionally they'll hire a brand newbie to the oilfield but not very often. Good luck everyone.

We are doing alot of Whiting right now especially since the rate cut. Seems to be a mixture of companies.

I have been out for the last six weeks with a broken shoulder tho so I'm not exactly the expert for what's been going on lately.

MBI offered me a job, are they slow also? I'd like to not end up as another Walmart yard seller trying to get back home. I'd be hauling water if I take the job. From the above posts it sounds like I should stay home. The job will be in watford city, supposed to be there on the 8th. Thank you in advance.

MBI is very busy in water in Watford City. We are loaning them drivers from our oil division because they cannot keep up.
