Weekly. Also, we use Transflo T/S Scanning and/or the Transflo Mobile Smartphone app (which works like a charm). Whatever you have completed by Saturday night and scanned in you will be paid for on that next, immediate Friday.

Decisions, decisions... do I take only enough gear for a week in one of the brand new Pete's as a loaner truck while my Volvo gets some engine work done on it (oil leak) or, do I just move everything over and keep the Pete as my permanent ride? Hmmmmmmm......

Great thread Cyanide. I will keep following it. Sounds like you are doing great there.
Cyanide Thanks this. -
Well, here we are six weeks into it and things couldn't be better! And if anyone is wondering, another driver over here that I know is currently doing this turn starting from yesterday; Alsip to PA, PA to TX, TX to CA. Not bad running at all, especially considering that before any extra hourly pay, he will have made about $2,600.
Anyway, here's the latest update from the last couple of weeks of running. I made out like a bandit on that last week's load, getting a total of 7.25 paid detention hrs on top of a really good rate. As a matter of fact, everything has had a good rate on it, with the exception of the PA-TX load I ran a few weeks back, yet even that was still comfortably liveable. Getting back on track here's how things look through my first five weeks pay wise...
09-09 to 09-15
-Parker, PA (Hook preloaded tank).....St. Petersburg, FL (live unload, "drumming off").....Conley, GA (tank wash).
Miles: 1,620
09-16 to 09-22
-Conley, GA.....Carrollton, GA (live load).....Spokane, WA (live unload).....Portland, OR (tank wash; dropped it, took my 10+ hour break, hooked back to it the next morning).
Miles: 2,894
2012 Totals
Gross: $6,032
Hub Miles: 9,602
Avg: .628/mile
Days Working: 30
Days Off: 5

Okay, so it isn't as pretty or fancy as one of them there Indian River trucks, but I bet it makes me a heck of a lot more money! LOL
So, the other day at the yard I'm thinking long and hard about this situation...
Either use this truck for a week or two max, then move back into the Volvo I was originally driving for another year at best or, just move everything into this one and run it until the wheels fall off in a few years. Tough decision to be honest! Though the Volvo had a major oil leak and, 454k miles on it, it was comfy, quiet, and ran great with the exception of the aforementioned leak.
Enter #1176, a brand new 2013 with 64 miles on the clock as of Thursday when I took issuance of it. After much deliberation, I decided upon taking the new ride, something that in my short twelve years out here I have never had. I could really care less about the manufacturer's badge (as long as it isn't the dime-a-dozen, every big fleet's favorite choice, Fruitliner) but, am more so just simply elated that it's completely brand spanking new! Most everyone knows that I am not the biggest fan of Petes as KW is my personal favorite, but this is a very nice ride to say the least and, since this is what Bob is buying, I'm going to drive the heck out of it!!! In the end it is nothing more than a tool to earn my keep, and I am very happy with it so far. Now let it develop gremlins and bugs and I'll be raising Cain hahaha.
Anyway, it now has 1,234 miles on it after loading at two different shippers between early Friday evening and then Saturday morning, and am going to unload asap at a single, undisclosed location in FL. This run I am presently on is also paying pretty dang good, and that is putting it lightly; even if I were to turn around and bounce empty all the way back to IL, it would still work out to roughly about .51/mile, though I am sure it being a 4-hole tank is helping greatly in that regards. Needless to say, I am very happy with things here. That is all for now, y'all be safe out there!

i got some sample forms from kingsport on how to fill out the demurge sheet. the ones that said not filled out properly no pay looked pretty decent, but no pay....some of those forms had alot of wasted ink on them for no pay. i get the feeling its not worth filling out the bottom half of the form....any suggestions.

Same concept as our old travel orders from Superior. Account for everything and ensure you have the times/delays listed on your time sheet as well. I've been paid for all delay time and anything else hourly applies to...

Good afternoon y'all, hope this finds everyone well today. Just jumping on quickly to pass along a quick update of how things are going and whatnot. Am presently loading a multi-compartment tank in LA heading up to WI provided they don't have me drop it at the yard, which would suit me fine because then I can grab something else to keep rolling. It's also a pretty decent run, as it is paying me roughly in the neighborhood of $750 for a tad over 1,100 miles.
The lone load I did for last week's pay was a doozy in the fact that even though there were some initial issues with getting loaded between two separate shippers last Friday and Saturday (another multi-compartment load that delivered at one consignee in Miami), the payoff was in the revenue...pun intended. Before any accessory charges it paid me roughly $1,475 for 2,464 hub miles, and that includes an awful long deadhead from Miami back up and over to Baton Rouge.
With that being said I need to make a very big note here so as not to cause any confusion with other drivers. I DO NOT RUN AS A TYPICAL SYSTEM DRIVER. I run directly for Central Dispatch which keeps me moving and makes me slightly more money than a normal system driver who is home every weekend or every other weekend. Just clarifying that, especially since you all see the revenue I am making. You must remember that by choice, I stay out between 3 to 5 weeks at a pop and simply take my time off in large chunks instead of breaking it up.
This is what works for me; I know it doesn't work for everyone else.
It's just amazing how talking with other drivers here (and even back at Superior Carriers years ago), the guys that go home every weekend seem to complain loudly when they aren't making the extra little bit that a long-haul driver makes. They forget the tradeoff between going home more frequently and that dispatch is doing their best to run them to make the best possible money AND still get them home for their weekend vice a driver who is staying out longer and who can do the runs that are longer, pay more, etc, etc.....
Anyway, off of my soapbox rant. Everyone have a great, safe weekend and have fun out there!JohnBoy Thanks this.
