Oh? Just what roll did the 4-wheeler play when that truck recently collided with a train? What roll did the 4-wheeler play when the driver failed to set his parking brake at the fuel island?

There are poor drivers for every class of vehicular object, just as there are excellent drivers and simply mediocre drivers.

When you are driving, if you are paying attention, you can anticipate possible moves by other drivers and prepare for them. If you are checking your mirrors, you will see the idiot speeding and weaving through traffic, and quickly gaining on you. How you react to that may make a difference between life or death. Probably not for you, but not just for that inconsiderate driver, either. Your reaction could keep him from hitting another vehicle, too. There are many accidents that happen because a driver who was not legally responsible for the accident was still not paying the attention that he should have. If we had more drivers in EVERY vehicle class paying more attention, I believe that there would be less accidents.

I'm guessing that the training methods used by companies such as CR England, Swift, etc. have just as much to do with it as anything else. Having a trainee act as a second seat is probably not the wisest move.

I have to agree . I can recall several driver fatalities caused by 4 wheelers leaving their lane .

I will agree to a certain point with u there are some people that lack common sense and should never get behind the wheel of a big rig. Never the less every industry will have flaws and are held to a certain percentage on safety so that means we have room for error and that means we dont need 4wheelers helping us out here knowaddaimean? Next time ur in the truck stuck in traffic look down and count how many 4 wheelers are holding the dang cell phone. Let me know.

it all depends where you start your figuring from
if you took accidents or deaths per mile driven say
compared to 4 wheelers we would look professional :biggrin_25525:

I'll tell ya one group of "professional drivers" that seems to be growing...and it's not a good thing.

It's the group of drivers who, in their endeavor to save every possible milisecond, pull off onto the shoulder of the road to pee, then get back on with little regard for oncoming traffic. You're broke down? Fine...use the shoulder. Gotta pee? For all that is Holy....at the VERY LEAST, get to a ramp. But for God's sake....quit pulling over on the shoulder next to a travel lane because "hey, it's convenient".

Anyone who does this is a worthless schlub, pure and simple.

It's a combination of factors. First the cars zipping aroung with the " I gotta get in front of that truck" mentality;some of them will do ANYTHING to not be behind you. Second are the psychos in trucks driving way too fast for conditions; I have seen 3 trucks in the past month go flying by me in construction, rain, and around bad curves almost bite it. It doesn't even slow them down! They just hammer down and keep going.
Then there are the pychos in trucks and cars that have to be 6 inches away from the person in front of them. Then there is the texting, eating, etc.
Put all that together on a rainy afternoon during rush hour and what have you got?
    CRASH!
