Im a local O.O for containers I live 46-68 miles from a container yard depending on what one I have to go to. Some days I have to bobtail to and from work. Some days I bring it home with me. Its not a bad job but you need to find the correct company to contract for. The rates arnt super great but its a very simple job if you have a good dispatcher/company and your truck works well. They pay about 1.43-1.90 per mile with FSC. But unload and load times usually dont take too long. or you just drop and hook, with the occasional deadhead to get one and paid both ways.
O/O as local...?

How much do they pay?
How many days can they give you work?
How long do they wait to pay?
How is their credit rating?
Do they have special requirements for trucks?
Do they have special requirements for drivers?
Who does the planning off the jobs?
Can you meet the planner?
Are they willing to put their requirements and benefits on paper?
I'm shure that others can add a few questions worthy off asking.soon2betrucking Thanks this.
