Bit of an update on things... Sanjel second interview proved to be more disappointing than the first. No sign on bonus offered (contrary to every single person we have spoken to) and the relocation bonus is only 2k not 4. Interesting. Furthermore, they don't fly in/out or offer 21/14 even though the HR guy said they did both. So that's overall not sounding like a very good place to work for. Lots of other prospects but it's just hurry up and wait at this point it feels...

So Peachsapphire, what is your background? Are you a green?
-
Not necessarily. As a noob, in my opinion 14/7 would be the expected option. Sign on bonus would be a big surprise. Nice to have, but no biggie. No fly in/out allowance expected unless you're in some remote location or got really lucky or had some obscure skillset or high demand experience.
Looks like this forum has already really helped me to adjust my expectations! -
Northboundhound! Is this for some with class 5 or class1?
-
Expectations for a noob with fresh class 1 in hand. Correct me if I am wrong in my expectations. Much appreciated.
-
It's helped us too. Just since the time I wrote that update an amazing offer came in from Baker Hughes, the other strong contender. A few other offers as well but nothing as solid as Baker Hughes. So, we are happy!northboundhound Thanks this.

Significant other to a green.
-
So what job did he apply to and what did they require of him? Just to know, if I can apply for similar positions. Thanks anyways for the response. I have actually learnt a lot just reading the posts. I am a noob too.

Northbound, they weren't necessarily expectations as much as they were wishes. Some of the things mentioned were what we were hearing Sanjel offered and for weeks they've been the one we've wanted. It was disappointing to hear that there was basically nothing true to what we had heard from employees, their HR staff & others. Ah well, we are so very happy with the Baker Hughes offer. Everything happens for a reason!
oilfield Thanks this. -
Apply at Trican. If you're in Red Deer, head to their main office and apply directly to the base manager.
They pay better than BH, much better equipment, training, and more room to advance or move laterally within departments.
They do offer relocation bonus, but only after one year of employment. No hiring bonus.
They are hiring in all departments. If you're not in Red Deer, find the nearest base and apply directly.oilfield and northboundhound Thank this.
