Most carriers won't accept military experience . My carrier does . They are also adding trucks with automated transmissions to the fleet . Drivers attend a week paid orientation then spend a week or two with a trainer at full pay .

Good business for them . Not so good for the thousands of newbies they go through every year . I just wrote to the military newspaper "Stars And Stripes" and asked them to investigate high driver turnover , DAC reports , and other pitfalls in the trucking industry and urged them to warn sevicemen of the risks of entering the trucking industry .

Think twice before you ask for another mentor. Swifties will give you a second road test before you can get new mentor. They stand behind their o/o mentors and student is always at fault.

That website has several ads. It's called tracking cookies that monitor your surfing behavior (keywords) and you'll see ads relevant to where you have been surfing.

It just so happens SWIFT is probably their only paid trucking advertiser. Had you had other surfing habits you would see a different ad.

Notice that when you see them Google Ad Sense ads. I bought some auto parts last week. All I see now is an ad from the company I bought parts from.

Clear your cookies, temp files, history and the ad game starts over.

They have other trucking companies advertising . If a search is done by zipcode others will show up . Military.com is a division of Monster.com

Not just Swift is looking for Military drivers. Don't get me wrong I'm proud of our Soldiers and thing they deserve jobs liker anyone else. Most of the bigger companies are looking for drivers, mechanics, office personal to work for them because people with military back ground tend to take orders better without complaining. Wake up folks! To me this is a form of communism. They figure if they get enough Military personal on board, then all the civilians will fall in place and if they don't they can make it so hard on them they will have to make a decision to either comply or quit. Therefore if enough companies do this then they can have total control. My fellow drivers start asking questions and you will see what I'm talking about. We need to take our country back and I plead to not give in to big corporate take over.

The big corporate takeover happened when NAFTA was enacted. So we are already screwed.

There are many reasons why a trucking company would like to hire x military other then just because they are used to taking orders, How about being used to long irregular hours. Or being away from home for extended periods of time. Or having a clean and neat appearance and not looking like a hobo which half the drivers I see look like. Organizational skills and attention to detail.
And compared to what the military pays, Swift would probably be a step up. If I owned a trucking company I would hire all the x military I could.

GET RID OF CORPORATE WELFARE! THERE IS NO REASON WHY THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO GIVE SUBSIDIES TO TRUCKING COMPANIES TO HIRE STUDENTS!!!!

If you let the free market work, then they will do what it takes to get drivers in - and pay will go up, conditions will go up, they won't have that government money coming in for every student they put through the door - even if that driver quits or gets fired on day one. End corporate welfare, and end regulations. EOBRs will put me out of business, I can't afford that crap. This also is an example of corporate/government crony-ism.

Let the free market be free and it will work.
