    Smaggs,

There is some good local companies where you live. On your days off I would pack a lunch box and go meet with the trucking companies in person. Would not hurt to do so.

You might want to check out Martens new flex fleet, its 7 on 7 off slip seat, less money, but would give you some time to figure out what you wanna do. Im going to try it out, cause Im getting tired of being gone all the time, hardly ever see my wife and family, and then I might consider a local job driving bottom dump sand trucks . :smt115

Smaggs....I hear ya, man. My home situation is what keeps me out here, but the light at the end of the tunnel is now appearing to be less of an oncoming train and more of a real light. I'm hoping my OTR life will be done inside of 3 years (I'll be 52 in November, so I'm shooting for 55). But if I run across a good position that suits me before then, I'm off the road as well. It's not even as fun as it was just 8 or 10 years ago.

good luck and all i can say is watch your pay checks, they will rip you off every chance they get....Wont pay for your scale tickets and sometimes even wash outs.Oh yes and dont forget those in the middle of your breaks to deliver the load and when you move the truck get a log volation......

Why can't a man just have a positive thread without disgruntled ex employees coming in and trashing it?

Strange. Well I never get washouts or scale tickets, anyway. Learned my lesson with Knight.

Marten has NEVER asked me to violate my logs. Not once. Never asked anyone I know in the company, either. I check my pay and so far, it has always added up. I never have to ask for detention or layover, either. I had to ask once, only because my FM was out when I needed it, so I waited for Monday to roll around and he got it in immediately. No questions asked.

I've been rolling strong for a while now. Hit a few speed bumps with breakdowns, but I got paid for all of it and been rolling ever since. Sleepy
