i have an 05 WS with a detroit series 60 under the hood, when bobtailing around the truck seem's to run fine untill you put it under load, between 1500-1900 rpm she runs real rough,( poping,chugging...) almost feels like a miss?? when pulling a loaded trailer its worse.. i'm kinda leaning towards a fuel pump issue maybe??? note.. its not an EGR issue.. ive done a EGR delete over a year ago now and its been running like a dream up untill this week..also no check engine light or codes coming up.. would low fuel pressure trigger a check engine light??
running rough under load

could be anything. and defenitly not something you want to keep driving on.
i've got the same problems. but mine is obvious a dead cylinder. and sincee my oil is 1 gallon over instead of 1 gallon under where it should be. i'm pretty sure i've got a cracked fuel line or injector leaking fuel into the oil instread of into the cylinder. my motor also started smoking at the same time the cylinder quit.
so now i'm in need of a new engine. or an overhaul. 2 gallons of fuel in hte oil can't be good,.
and nope. my engine light hasn't come on. and yes the bulb is still working. -
My cat recently acted like this, was air getting into fuel line at a hairline crack in a fitting. Place your return fuel line into a bucket and if you see air bubbles u have an issue.
RAGE 18 Thanks this. -
when under a hard pull does it act like it wants to shut off? when in a hard pull and you left of throttle does it take it a couple seconds to come back to normal? like its running out of fuel? injector might be loose and when under boost it is raising injector up out of hole and putting compression in fuel rail.

Good to see you in here. -
A friend of mine just replaced all his injectors in his DD 60. It seems that DD injectors are 2 stage... Low speed and high speed. You could have a faulty injector that is cutting out in the upper side. I'd definitely check for air, but if everything checks out, then check for a bad injector.

Replace the fuel filter and see if that helps.

Is the turbo still vgt? if the actuator gets loose, the finn sticks, I did a quick fix by running a small air line strait to the turbo bypassing the vpod,no more turbo poping.

Sounds like an EGR issue. Makes no differences if you replaced parts or not. Alot of parts new and rebuilt are bad. I know from a $10,000 experience that to this day did not fix the issue.

Yes, as always, EGR ,but this time it wasn't the part it self, the mechanic at the shop put the computer on the engine and egr wasn't responding,he then started at the ecm and checked each pins in the harness,it ended up being the egr wire from the ecm that was separated inside the rubber!!. This was a 2 hr shop time well spent.
