Hi. I'm hoping someone can help me please. My husband is supposed to leave tomorrow for prime orientation but we can't find his social security card! He applied for a new one and has the paper that says he is getting one and it has his number on it. The DMV took it by we don't know if prime will. I called them but there is no one there right now.
we really can't wait 2 more weeks for his card to come in because I've already quit work (to take care of the kids).
Thanks ahead for your replies!

As long as the receipt from the Social Security office has his name and social security number on it, he should be fine. I'm in the same situation and was told by my company that's all they need.

Thank you! I tend to freak out a bit over things. It would make sense to me that they would because I've gotten jobs with just that paper and he got his permit with the paper. I just wanted to see what others had to say.

No worries, good luck to both of you.

The only thing they "need" the SS card for is the I9.

And even then, you don't HAVE to use the SS card.
check out the back side of the I9 instructions for the other ID's that would be usable.

Drivers license and birth certificate will do. Then be prepared to fax/email the SS card if they ask. He'll be at the terminal a few days.

My friend got his new SS card after 5 days from applying. Do as mentioned and fax it across when it arrives. He should still be at the company I presume.

I was told by my recruiter that I would need to have a copy for my ss# for orientation, so I applied for one and had the piece of paper saying what my number was by the social security office. Had it with me the entire week during orientation AND NEVER HAD TO SHOW IT TO ANYONE WITH PRIME.
Prime did take a copy of my DL, CDL permit, and Birth Certificate the first day, but not my social security card. -
imagine that....LOL

DL + BC = sufficient for I-9 employment eligibility certification. Most employers simply use your DL + SS card.
