England turned me down to drive for them straight out of driving school about 14 years ago because I had a felony on my record. Id like to HUG the guy who called me and told me I wasnt qaulified!.... from what I read of these people, and their former drivers, and by talking to some of their current drivers even at truck stops, they absolutely blow! ... Now that I have a million miles of safe driving under my belt in over 42 states without a ticket or accident... I can honestly say... I have alot more choices. Anyone who would turn me down because of a felony on my record thats over 17 years old... can get on their knees and hug these nuts! lol. Im lovin life working for a tanker company that gets me home every night, and pays and treats me with the respect I have EARNED. So... screw C.R.E, Werner, CRST, Crete, Shcnieder, J.B. Hunt, and Central... Getting turned down by them when I first came into the industry was a heartbreaker at the time. . . but THANK GOD for unanswered prayers baby! ... Its not always a good thing to go with the biggest boy on the block. . . thats for #### sure!

Same thing happened with me at CR Crapland. I applied to work with them first and foremost but because I didn't have 12 prior months of W2 tax returns for my previous employer (an under the table caretaking gig), they turned me away. Best thing that ever happened. I've had two close friends join up with them through their driver academy. It was a real nightmare. Their training was subpar and rushed. They pushed them in to leases. Everyone was rude. Trainer left one of my buddies at a truck stop for six days while he went home to ######## etc, etc. I ended up at CRST, which was a little better, but not by much when compared to other companies out there. My advice to anyone would be the same as what you've said; Biggest =/= best...

kind of misleading to not only you but anyone who reads, one, dont trust what drivers say as law, you have no clue of how many people are just being bitter and dont tell you the whole story behind why their experience was a bad one, yes there are companies with high rates of unhappy drivers, but YOU need to ask the right questions of what company is right for you, i know drivers at all 3 of the companies you stated that just believe there is no better company, on the contrary ive also met plenty who think they are the scum of the earth, one thing i can say about USX though, if you have to wait at one of their teminals you are going to be waiting in style....no lie on that one, and NO exaggeration

I went with Swift, and it's OK. I've run 2,500/wk consistently, solo, and they pay every Tuesday, in full. That's another thing to consider, how consistently they pay you. I've never had a problem getting paid on time and in full with Swift. Also, every issue with my truck was taken care of right away, no BS. Swift has been fair with me. You start at $450/wk in 5 wks training, $.25/mile, then get to $.30 pretty fast, top out at $.42/mile with load selection, not forced dispatch. There's an incentive now for clean miles/quarter. The school owner told me this: "keep your mouth shut, don't turn down loads." He was so right on. Any company will like that, but DM's can be a challenge.

Looks to me like ALL of Arkansas is in their hiring area. Check out their hiring area map here: http://www.tmctrans.com/drivers/hometime

I'd have to say this sums up the bulk of this wing of the forum.

You are right on with this, Honch. Especially the negative posts from drivers who should look in the mirror. "No need to complain..." Great. Thanks. One more thing, that first year is a drivers greatest risk time, the greatest uncertainty for the company while they figure out what driving work is like once you're in the environment. So a little gratitude makes sense, like "thanks for giving me work and opportunity." Looking in here for advice or news about companies needs to be taken in perspective, as you said more whiners post than it may seem at first.
