The only way then would be truckstop wifi. those wifi cards with sprint and verizon would reach their data limit in no time if you stream netflix.

i don't like the rand mcnally GPS units, either the 510 or the 710.

they may have fixed it, but in the past they would 1) only let you start a trip from your current location, and 2) only show you a map from your current location to the end of your first leg (where the first waypoint was inserted).

the old PC Miler units will let you plan a trip from any start point to any end point, no matter where you are. it will also show you the entire trip on the screen, multi-legs and all.

the last bit is useful when you are planning a trip and want to know which of two different early legs will take less miles, or go through a different town, or whatever.

i have an antique PC Miler that does all that. they make a 7-inch unit that costs $299.00 called the 750. i haven't seen it work, but i'd be surprised if it were different from the old ones.

I will tell you what I did, I have a 5" Rand McNally gps, bought it 2 years ago reman off thier website, about half the price of new, I use a RM laminated regular print atlas spiral bound, I have my smartphone throught Sprint with unlimited data tethered to my laptop via Pda.net for internet, I have two 175 watt inverters for 110v stuff, I just use the apu/epu fan for cooling the sleeper, and TA has a single burner butane cooktop that can be used with aluminum pans for cooking along with a teapot for hot water.
