One at a time, man.
If you use the company card and there is a kickback from Pilot or wherever for fueling only there, make sure you get that money back, it is yours. The NASTC program Dice1 is using looks like the best option. I am using the Shell TCH card, how I have set it up is I give them $3,000 in cash, and they extend me credit up to 3,000, and take out what I have used for that week on thursday night at midnight(from my bank account - they keep the 3,000 on security deposit). I did it this way to make it easy and didn't have to do the credit checks and all. The card is accepted pretty much everywhere. I get a cheque monthly for 3-5cpg off pumped gallons. If I chose one network only to fuel in, it would be the full 5cpg. But I like to fuel wherever suits the need for that day. I pay 1.80 per swipe. I only ever use it for fuel. Not sure if you ever come to Canada or not, but if you do (through Detroit), fuel at the duty free seeing as they pay the fuel taxes. -
Thanks for the info. I can look into that. I might have some extra cash available for this purpose.
I might buy 2 trucks, because I'd make more profit. My boss wants out, as he's getting old and has another venture, and has family, so will sell me his other 2 trucks for $15k a piece. They have over a million miles. I've budgeted money into my number crunching for maintenance purposes, $350 a week per truck. It's a dedicated account, so the numbers are pretty much stable. I just don't want to have to use the company fuel card if I can save fuel money by choosing where I fuel, and choosing where my other drive would fuel. -
So you'll be payin $25 a week/ $300 a quarter for them to do your ifta for you?? I've never had to pay more than $125 a quarter on my ifta, and that's runnin ALL of the lower 48... When I ran just 5 states, I spread my fuel purchases out among all 5 states, and paid less than $100 a quarter... Look into getting and filing your own ifta if possible, I did it when I was leased on and saved myself a lot of money. The other trucks leased on to the same company averaged $250+ a month for ifta, because you never know what they are really doing with your numbers or money behind closed doors.

I can tell you that ComData cards require "upfront" money to be deposited in their account prior to issuance of their cards. It is/was something like $5k per card and this is because ComData is NOT a credit card, when you use it at the pump, the amount of fuel pumped or any cash advance is immediately credited to the fuel stop. Therefore, in essence, it is a money transfer type system. You pump the fuel and the amount pumped is paid immediately to the truck stop. So, they get their money immediately and Com Data is not fronting any money. And if they're not fronting any money, guess what ? The trucking company needs to have a certain amount of cash in reserve for ComData.
