I drive for TMC right now, they're an awesome company and i fully enjoy the time that i've spent with them. But the wife is nagging =P
I've checked into OD, and a few others that have terminals or whatnot in Michigan, not many of them seem that interested, the few that were ready to hire me on with them told me that it was a great possibility that i'd be laid off within my first year (Probably a few times)
Anybody have any suggestions? Oh. I have many, many years of experience (Been driving since i was 16 on and off, but only about 2.5 years of actual verifiable experience.. That's holding me back a bit, too)
Thanks in advance!

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I would avoid Cheifton (E.L. Holingsworth) if I where you. They just have too many problems. Might want to look them up in the Fourm here before considering them. MTS seems to have even worse problems. A lot of the union shops seem to be ok, but not my bag.

Padnos is always busy.
Zeeland Freight Services is busy, but that may be seasonal with dump trailers.
As you know, Michigan is in a recession. -

Yeah, Michigan is the worst right now. The wife and i are actually looking at relocating and heading south. But we'll see how that comes along, we're both pretty family oriented, and both of our families live here in Michigan.
Thanks for the replies guys, i'll check those two out! -
Check out the company I work for Lapari Foods. They are out of Warren, Michigan. Good local company. I know we run Detroit.

Last I checked Lipari wasn't hiring (about two weeks ago). Eckz, you may want to check in Toledo; I know, it's an hour drive, but I was there about 10 days ago for a job interview, and there are a bunch of cos. with 'now hiring' banners out. Just a thought, otherwise check the local online want ads, you may find something decent there.

Thanks alot guys. I'm going to stay with TMC probably for another year, i might as well. I doubt ill be making 1500/week when i go local, so im going to build up my savings a bit more (just took two months off and used most of what was in the bank) but after that ill check those out.
I see alot of good companies in Florida and i'd love to live there, so maybe in another year when i have some more moolah in the bank relocating will make more sense. -
Admittedly, we haven't had much in Michigan for a while now....
Good Luck Eckz and GO RED WINGS GO!!!!! -
Eckz, how long would you have to wait to get a local spot with TMC? I know they run some MI sleds, either hauling steel (crappy old steel skates) or lumber (new Bensons) with daycabs.
