Orientation is done, today was Qualcomm and more safety videos. ID card issue, got our long form and card, Experienced drivers got their assignments, My co driver that I will be with for a couple of weeks is on his way in from California, He currently has a student and they are running super solo, so they should be here tonight or in the morning.

My co-driver is on his way here to pick me up. He has been doing Family Dollar dedicated for 4 years and been with Werner for 10. He is a company driver with a 2012 Peterbilt 587.

Today begins anew, We'll be pulling out of El Paso Petro here in a few, as soon as he gets here. We're sitting on a load now that will be delivered to the DC, pick up another and away we go. My Trainer/co driver is a pretty good guy, I told him I was ready to drive, and rather than have me sit and ride the first leg like I have seen other trainers do, he jumped in the passenger seat, and after a pretrip, we made El Paso, Werner policy is, no student/new co drivers will driver after midnight and before 6, he drove from Willcox. He lives here and we are not expected at the DC until today, I had a break and he went home. Todays pretrip is done and he is on his way. I will keep ya posted, so far everything seems to be decent. On a side note: The BBQ buffet that the Petro has, was actually quite tasty...I may need to do a few laps around the TS parking lot to clean out the arteries, between the brisket, sausage, fried chicken, and cornbread, I did have veggies so it was not all artery blocker.

Sorry I have not kept you up to date, but my co driver and I were running hard, if not driving sleeping or unloading. My co driver dropped me off in Fontana so I could catch a bus home for Guard weekend this weekend, and he picked up a student while there. I will get another co driver for my last week of training/observation, I only have about 65 more hours to go, then I should get my truck assignment. They got me home early so I could get my haircut and stuff done for Guard.
I will continue to keep you posted as I progress.

Since you started out in Phoenix, do you happen to know when they hold orientations at that terminal? I spoke with a Werner recruiter in person today, and all he could tell me was that they don't do them weekly there (unlike Omaha).

The way I understood it, they did one on Mondays and Wednesdays of every week. I may be wrong, but I went on Wednesday, finished Thurs and Rosa, the lady that does orientation was talking about who was coming in the following Monday. I had my choice when I went to orientation, I could show up Mon, or I could show up Wed. The only reason I did not show up Mon, was I had drill the weekend before.
