Thats what I did with my last DM and it worked out pretty good. I should've left well enough alone I guess, but I enjoyed training on kraft, so I thought it would be good to come back. Im gonna have a talk with my DM (if I can magic him on the phone) on monday, and we'll see where it goes from there.

send them a message so it's on the QC then send a 5 with your time of arrival they can do the rest. Planners know what's on your clock before they even send the load if they want to repower it let them. At times it suck to be the only truck close by just do your best and communicate only what you need to. Remember the planner puts the loads on your truck not your DM unless its a broker load.

I do all my communication over the qc. I get assigned loads I can't do and tell them BEFORE sending an 11. They might know whats on my clock, but they dont pay much attention. Case in point - Delivering at 1700 with most of my clock left. The send me a load to DH 100 miles, trl washout en route, grab a preload (takes over an hour at this location in my experience), run it 650 miles, and deliver by 0500 the next morning. I send a message saying im not gonna be close and give them my eta to 99 (I think it was like 1700 the next day) and eventually they took it off me. If you send 11 and then tell them you'll be late you get a service failure I dont mind being repowered, but I've only been repowered once. Most of the time they say get it going and we'll repower you, and they dont. At least at that point its on them not me.
I know the planners put the loads on, but unfortunately I can't call them and say give me miles, my DM is my contact.

they already no your gonna be late it goes back to your the only truck in the area. I got my share of loads like that when I was with them both refer and Coors but I came to understand they just wanted me to get under it they would work out the rest. Coors was bad more loads in Golden then we had trucks. Try not to stress over it they won't fire you tell them once and forget about it pick up the load and get it there when you can. That's all I'm saying and I'm not trying to rub you the wrong way.

By the way don't send an 11 just send a message saying what you can do then do a 5 with the time you will be there then go Mac 11 means nothing I didn't 11 over 1/2 my loads always got paid as far as a service failure after they reset the appt time have your DM resend the load info with the new appt time that you set then 11 it you you will get your $ 10.00 and your ontime. Never Mac 11 a load you can't do make them earn there keep believe me I've been there.

Ill keep that in mind. Speeking of things that have gone down, on time is .01/mile now, and only if you have 97% on time for the quarter

Are you saying you loose a penny a mile if your under 97% or a penny xtra if yor over 97%. You still get your $10.00 for ontime loads don't you. I have friends still with Coors maybe they can explain it.

You are right, The planners to not know that we only have 11 hours driving or 14 hour work days.
One of the largest problems in trucking right now is the unqualified people (Meaning those that only know trucking from books) in charge.
This runs from DOT, FMCSA, Safety personnel, DMs, ext ext.

With Central we have two kinds of loads, 3 days to run 300 miles or 8 hours to run 600 miles.
Just let your DM know what you can do and demand layover if load has way to much time. Then do what you can safely.
I'm O/O so I choose my loads a little more according to profit, How ever I still bump heads with my DM sometimes and the planers simply
because they have a hard time understand there is 187 miles of dead head between my 99 and stop 1 and I can not unload live at 0900 and
make a live load at 1000 187 miles away! Just tell them and then do your job.

Don't let anyone in this business rush you and get you flustered out here. It's your license it is your money that pays the fines, It is your
life if something goes way south.

Our economy is in the dumps, Way worst then any politician or news media will admit.
People are flocking to trucking as last resort so in return we end up with a lot of steerwheel holders and more regulations
only for them to quit once they figure out that trucking is not all sunsets and steak dinners every night.
Hours are long, A lot are free hours, Pay is same as it has been seens the 70s.

Trucking is not a job it is a life style and this life style is not for everyone..

Question obviously coming from a newbie: What is your power source when parked in a Central company truck...to run electrical devices...to cool in hot weather...to heat in cold weather? What are the issues of concern? And do other companies have better set-ups for this auxiliary power issue?

    Thanks!
