That's ok... show me where to get a decent cheesesteak or a proper sub outside of the mid atlantic...

Ok, Capriottis I will admit has expanded to a few locations in the southwest... but that's it...

You deal with it and enjoy the local specialities until you get back home. However if Mexican is your concern, they're nationwide now... authentic Mexican owned and operated places are all over.

My favorite philly cheesesteak is the little sandwich shop across from t/a in Gary, IN. Mmmmmmm...

Good Mexican is hard to find on the road. Lots of places claim to be authentic but are far from it.

I just want to throw out a quick question. I had my own business for the past six yrs (construction) And will be taking 08-11 1040's up to Stevens this afternoon. I have to say the last couple years have been real lean. Living on savings and the odd job coming in from time to time. Point being less than 10,000/ yr. on some of them. I'm a stand up guy, same home 24 years, married 25 years. All 1040's from the same reputable CPA. Do you think this is going to flag me or do they tend to take some things into consideration. I don't know if there is some wiggle room or is there a hard line with them. I would think they just want to see if you have been a drifter from job to job or you have a pattern of stability.

You'll probably be fine. I had actually retired for a couple years and showed very little income during that time, but based on the past was hired. You're right....they are trying to filter out the drifters and people that show an unstable pattern. There are lots of drivers that struggled a couple years before going into driving.

Thanks Emulsified. Just got back from the school leaving the 1040's. They didn't show me the door anyway. Lol. Going to study and try to take the tests for the learners permit on Thursday. If I get that out of the way I won't have to go up to DOT with the whole tribe on Monday. Wish me luck.

I am hard of hearing also, I started my driving career with Stevens. I didn't pass the hearing test the first time got put on "medhold" went and got hearing aids then passed. They ain't cheap and u ain't gonna make much money at Stevens so take that into consideration. The whisper test oat tricky for the HOH i had a hard time understanding one nurse (with hearing aids ) but had no trouble with the other. So ask for a different nurse if u. Have trouble with one

Things are going to be just as lean if not "LEANER" with Stevens. If you plan on moving along to another company down the road then stick with it. For the long haul its not worth it. IMHO.

Yeah It's going to be tough for a while but I've been through lean times before. I'm vary skilled at being "urban-amish". The family and I have made this decision together because well... In Texas anyway construction is dead for people like me. I never thought I would see the day and look around and find I'm a stranger in my own country.

gonna love what i found out today in orientation at my new job. Even though i have proof i gave notice and all the paperwork pertaining to my return of the truck. Stevens still states i am employed there and will not give any information to my new company. glad i have all the backing paperwork and pictures of qualcomm messages and of the truck in the yard on me to prove i left gracefully. I still have the new job and all i just think its pretty unethical of stevens to try to mess up my life this way just because they are upset i quit on them.

There are some decent BBQ places in Big D but nothing near Stevens HQ. 'Smoke" in Oak CLiff has a mixture of home cookin' and BBQ, 'Smokey Johns' around Love Field is good and Sonny Bryan's in the West End. Agreed on Austin TX having Big D beat on BBQ.
