well lucky old me I'm off to N.H. oh joy

You can run your own Auth. and register your truck with Landstar and run any loads that you want.
But.......You need really good insurance or they won't let you haul the good stuff that pays. Which means lighter loads at a higher rate per mile.
My buddy does it with a Dry Van. he finds very few loads with LS that are worth the pay. Cause they won't let him haul the good ones until or unless he upgrades his insurance.
His Insurance is high.scottied67 Thanks this. -

I don't have high insurance and I am hauling plenty of $4-$6 p/mile freight.scottied67 Thanks this. -
With what kind of trailer? Are these long hauls or short little 300 mile trips? Sheesh, and here I thought I was doing good averaging around $2-2.30/mile on 2800 mile trips.
You're rocking and rolling there, bud! -
Van and yes, most are short trips. You are not gonna see $4 a mile trips for 2800 miles. Needless to say, I am doing well running them. Granted, I haul plenty of $2.00 stuff too.csmith1281 and scottied67 Thank this.

You are leased with LS, not running under your own authority.... correct? -
Yes. you are correct
-
Running your own Auth. and Registering with LS is different than Leasing to LS.
Leasing to LS makes it harder to run anyone elses frieght but LS's.
That was the point I was trying to make.
