I can tell you what the pro's and con's are, but the way I see it they are specific for me and my home situation. This is what works for me. I get paid say like 650 or 700 a week as a company driver. On a bad week and I've already had one as a lease operator, I cleared more than that after I put my tax money aside. So pay is definitely a plus for me. The thing that is a con is I'm paying 425 a week on a truck that is worth maybe 250 or 300 a week lol, plus i'm moving freight on my dime (for fuel) which is cheaper for May but more costly for me. I have a pretty good fuel rhythm down at the moment so it's working for me. Of course I haven't had any major mechanical problems...yet, i'm sure it'll come but so far so good, i'll cross that bridge when I get to it. As long as you can save, pay your taxes like you're supposed to and run it as a business, take the good with the bad and keep a positive attitude then it can work (so i hope). But as far as pro's and con's like I said you have to figure what your needs are at home and weigh all the options. Should I have waited? yeah sure, but if it's something that you can dedicate your time and effort to then why not? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I am thinking of doing it after a year of OTR so I can save up and to see if OTR is right for me or buy a daycab and run local stuff. But first thing first... Getting on the road and working! I'm pulling my hair out sitting waiting on orientation.
    Thanks for the input!!

just remember that you are out there to make money and not spend it. You gotta eat so get yourself a fridge and load up before you hit the road. Buying food on the road adds up quick. Have fun and be safe

Oh and that is one of the reasons I wanted to lease now, so I can start it and get it paid off quicker so I can get on with landstar and pick my own loads so I can be closer to home. My ultimate goal is to run Oregon, Washington and Idaho. Maybe a little farther out, but that's my hope for now. I enjoy being home, shame on me lol

Scooter, I understand your dislike for May, I have some dislikes with them as well... But as far as the Lease/Purchase.. they have one of the best, I paid off my first truck from May lease and know many, many that have also and 5 more that will be paid off in the next 2-4 months. Mays lease/purchase is a #### good one. The only reason some fail is cause they dont understand how to run a business.

Does May pass all of the fuel surcharge onto you lease ops? If not, why?
