I have knowingly run across only one, and she was a veteran trainer. Couldn't give you a name or anything like that, though. Good luck....enjoy the learning!

How much base are these base model Crete trucks? When I drove for heartland, they didn't even have a jake, had no electric passenger side window, and had "sweaty-butt" vinyl seats instead of cloth. One of the reasons I'm seriously considering a change from my present company is the old trucks that are slip seated on your weekends off. So getting a nice truck is very important to me especially with being out in it for weeks at a time. Also, some Crete trucks look really nice but sometimes I see one that looks old and faded. Are these owner-ops? Thanks.

The trucks are fairly well equipped in my opinion with the exception of not having a real APU but a battery powered one. It works fairly well in cooling but the heating sucked in mine. They do have the vinyl seats. My jake worked very well. Also the trailers are generally very good.

My Cascadia has cloth seats. I've tried out the heat in the sleeper, and it's pretty decent. But it does tend to vary from unit to unit. Very little issue with trailers.

Today, I managed 540 miles straight up I-95. Started in Stony Creek, VA around 0400. Took a break for a shower at Ruther Glen to let a little traffic subside in the DC area, and it worked out. Everyone was behaving (at least along my route). Baltimore was fine....even flew (in relative terms) through NJ, the GW Bridge, and Ct. Ended up in Stonington, CT, about 66 miles from my delivery.

Only 1625 miles last week, as I didn't get paid for the trip I submitted early Saturday morning. So, those miles are basically for a bit more than 3 days. I'll deliver this in the morning, and that'll put me at 2700 for this week with about a day and a half to go.

    48Packard,

What is your average pay mile's per week over the last 8 months? Just trying to get an idea.

    Thanks

I just saw Majestyk's spreadsheet, and I see no reason why one shouldn't expect numbers right along the lines of those posted.

For me, however, it is tough to give an accurate figure up to this point. Reason being my second truck had a bunk AC unit that failed, literally, every ten days. Once it lasted three weeks. Upon THAT failure, I got this Cascadia. It's been perfect.

My previous truck (a ProStar) also left me down for 5 days in Arkansas with a turbo failure. So, as you can see, it's very difficult for me to give a really accurate and true picture of my miles. OH....and I almost forgot....I had an Asset Manager who was new to the position. Three weeks ago, I got a new AM, and she is on the ball. So it is from this point on that I'm really counting my miles. Honestly, as I've previously stated, I was about a week from gone until my new AM arrived on-scene. Honestly, as of now, I have yet to run 10k paid miles in a month while staying out 24-35 days at a time. But my miles are a reflection of my then-AM and my then-truck. I have every reason to believe that I'll hit the 10k mark pretty regularly from here on. Until things change!

Last month, I ran just under 10k (I think it was around 9970), but that was not a full month with my new AM. Last week (although it won't go on a single paycheck), I ran a paid total of 3400+. Took a 34 Monday, then got a 900-miler that I'm delivering tomorrow at 9AM.

In conclusion, like everywhere else, it really depends on who you get for an AM. I'll keep posting updates as long as my fingers will allow.

    Shakey52 Thanks this.

Okey Dokey...got out of MA and NY relatively unscathed. Headed back down to Brown Summit, NC with a nice, unbalanced P&G load. Day was really going pretty well......until......

I got on the NJ Turnpike. About 5:15 this afternoon, obviously it's busy. Sun is pretty much in your eyes as well (I was right up by the Giant's football stadium). There's a little rise in the highway there, and just momentarily my attention was taken away by something....something so insignificant I don't even recall what it was. But then I realize that traffic has come to a rather abrupt halt in front of me, and I proceeded to hit the brakes harder than I ever have under a load. Didn't lock 'em down, but for me it was significant....and downright scary. Got stopped in plenty of time...little light on the QC went on, indicating a "critical event report". Goodie.

But it was a wake-up call I haven't had in quite some time. OK...back to the miles.

Sitting at 2700 for this week, with the carry over from last week. This trip delivers tomorrow, and is 800. If I can get it submitted tomorrow, that'll give me 3500 for this week. But I think I may carry it over to next week, as I'll be due for a B service the end of the week, so I'll be down a day or so.

Either way, my new AM has made a very profound difference in my miles for the first few weeks I've been on her board.

More later on most of these 48Packard stations.
