Oh, thank you! I am a female. I don't want to be paired with another female though. But, yeah..I am worried about getting somebody I don't get along with. How does it work sleeping on team runs? I guess you would get used to the truck moving, noise etc?
-
It's no fun at all. The roads are bumpy, and you have to get use to your co driver who probably can't shift all that great. If you don't eat or drink much b4 you go to bed you should be alright but you will only get a few hours of decent sleep because all the moving and bouncing.
Don't you go out with a trainer first b4 you get your co driver?TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
Mostly you would sleep while your partner drives and then swap places and repeat. Truck will just keep moving, and at the same time you would have to figure out who will be the AM driver and who will be the PM driver. I won't go to CRST if I can help it since I would be scared to close my eyes and trust someone I do not know who might be like me, right out of training with no prior driving experience with my life as I sleep.
TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
This is a stupid question, but I'm just a wannabe, so here goes. When teaming, how do you handle bathroom stops? Does it start an argument if your co-driver is making good miles and you simply gotta tell him to stop? I'm not just talking about taking a whiz, if you know what I mean. And for eating, do you pretty much just eat always while the truck is rolling?
While on the subject of teaming, it just seems like there can be lots of problem issues with teaming along with somebody you don't know (meaning not your wife, brother, friend, etc). Like what happens if the co-driver decides to quit and then you are left with downtime? The question probably pertains to CRST specifically because I understand they only run team. And there's probably times when your co-driver wants home time for whatever the reason but you don't, so then what? Doubt you can just switch team partner, or does that happen?
Sorry for the basic questions here, but people on this site can give the real story, please -
Of course you have to stop to let your co driver use the bathroom. Also the loads CRST has or had when I was there was not all that hot. So they had plenty of time to get to destinations and thats probably why you always see them in truck stops either waiting on loads or waiting to deliver loads. Most of those loads were planned like you were solo. We would get there a day or 2 early and you couldn't deliver it. So you both look at each other mad because you are not making money. 2 people in a truck when you running east to west is good. 2 people in a truck and your running north to south and its not your significant other, and too much time on a load. Not good.
