hey, as you can see from the post before your first , there hasnt been traffic in this thread for over a year. I only saw your post because I was subscribed by "accident" to it.

Do you have a big book with you? if not I suggest making this site a fave on your computer or phone www.aa.org . you can read the book from there or download it to a E-reader app from amazon or other site like that that sells digital books. Another option is our meeting in print, The Grapevine, you can sign up at that website via the link provided on aa's main site. Back issues, current issue, etc are available online now. Not exactly the same as sitting in a meeting but can sure go a long way in a pinch!!!

You will find more immediate help by becoming a member of www.intherooms.com. 24/7/365 recovery site that has all sorts of different 12 step forums. Main one being centered on AA.

one you get a few more posts here, you will be able to PM members here, from this thread. WE can do what we can to help you through.

In the meantime, can you tell us a little about yourself, in general I mean? Be selective in what you share. Companies can and do read here.

Do you have a sponsor back home? Any numbers or email addresses of members from home? Thats another way of getting what you need.

The other more peace giving is to pray. Pray for the help to get through the day.

    Good luck.

Hey Folks! I am no longer a driver, haven't been since December of 2011, but I always will be in my heart. I left trucking and made big changes to my life. I am currently an interning Alcohol and Other Substance Abuse Counselor. I left the industry in Dec of 11, as mentioned, and started a Human Services Degree in May of 2012. I will have five years of sobriety this January 24th, 2014. I get email notifications from this site when there is a post to any of my threads or threads I follow.

Mickeyrat68 left some good sites, thank you for that driver. I'm in Racine WI and would be glad to shuttle any interested driver to a meeting in town. Exit 333 (Hwy 20) on I-94 is our local Petro and Pilot, with another Pilot an exit or two away. Pending my schedule upcoming, I hope to be able to host a meeting right at the Petro. If you contact me via this site, it'll flag me in my email. I have a special place in my heart for drivers, having spent 10 years myself OTR. I was gifted the 2 books that AA has that list the meetings all over the country ( at least the Central Offices and some contacts in all the states and most of the towns ) We are Area 75 and this is a safe link to our meetings:

    http://www.area75.org/meetings.html?dist=17

I currently chair the 8:00 Thursday meeting at the Grove Club here in Racine. If I can be of help in any form, please feel free to contact me via this thread or privately.

I have been sober since 6/12/2001
over time you develop a network of people to call in different cities to get you to meetings
I talk to people everyday from home in AA
like most things in life it gets better with time

first for both topics, dont drink!!!!!

Second, its possible to give a shout out on the CB when you are at a truck stop. Have heard of meetings spontaneously starting that way.

You can also go to www.aa.org to find meetings in the area you are stop in , say on a 34 hr reset. Soemp areas will have people willing to come get visitors to get them to a meeting. I've done that but not in a truck.

You can also do as suggested with www.intherooms.com , sign up there and they have daily meetings online , video meetings, chat room, threads. VERY helpful.

Havent heard from you here in over a week. Let us know , ok? you have three people who have responded to your posts in here. I would wager the other two are interested to hear from you too.
